The latest update does not work with other BP plugins. No ui dashboard access! No Members. groups etc. Be sure to backup your site.
Here’s the error on a white page:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function xprofile_insert_field_group() in /home/content/a/l/b/xxxxxxxxxxxx/html/wp-content/plugins/bp-profile-widgets/bp-profile-widgets.php on line 423

Now, how do I reinstall 1.9?
Can I just upload via ftp the older version? will it overwrite all the files? Are there other files I need to delete?
My db backup and is 2 days old and I have new users since then. Very sad if I loose their profile info..
Thanks for any help you can give.

Okay now. The fix I used.
FTP and renamed the offending plugin.
Dashboard came back. Deleted the offending plugin and files, which worked surprisingly
    Activated new BuddyPress version.
    Members, Grouyps, Activity back…Whew!
Now to re back up the site..

That fatal error is referencing bp profile widgets plugin…. Can you access your /wp-content/plugins/ directory and either rename or delete that folder. That should de-activate that plugin…..

Edit: you beat me to it….

    Thanks bud.
Besides the BU, do you have ideas how to prevent this in the first place?

Not really, apart from making sure all plugins are up to date.

If I am worried about a particular plugin and/or it hasn’t been upgraded for a long time, I will check on it’s wordpress.org ‘support’ section as well as the plugin or developer’s website…

I also run a local version of a website to test things out on first.

    Also backup files and database…

I should look into that local version
    Thanks.
I have a general display issue btw, and I would appreciate some feed back.. That plugin was supposed to create a different display for the member pages. (They added a group of more fields for audio and video, that would only be displayed in a sidebar when we are on member pages.)
The member pages look like any other page on the site of course, with a sidebar on the right. But there has to be a better/different look… Any more ideas?
