Uploading group avatar gives 404 not found error

    I can’t upload an avatar for any of the groups on my site. When I try to I get a ‘404 not found’ error message.

    I only discovered this recently. I suspect the problem arose after I moved my site to a new server several months ago. Groups I created before then still have their original avatars. However I cannot add avatars to any new groups I create. Of course I’m reluctant to try changing an avatar on one of the old groups in case I can’t get the previous one back.

    Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

    I’m using WordPress 4.0.0 and BuddyPress 2.1.1.

    I’m still trying to solve this.

    I saw elsewhere the group avatar folder and subfolders need to be owned by www-data – mine weren’t, so I made that change, but I still have the exact same problem as before.
