User Chosen password different to Welcome Email??

    Using latest version of Buddypress

    Hi

When I test my site by registering as a user I have to choose a password for example “applepears” and fill in the other details etc. The user then gets sent an email which says his user name and password but the password is one generated by Buddypress/MU. If the user tries to login they need to use the original password they chose to get in. Please could anyone advise how I get rid of the buddypress generated password?

    Many thanks

I changed the welcome email so that the wpmu generated password wasn’t included. Go to:

Site Admin > Options> then edit the Welcome Email

Can you confirm with me that you’re using bp-sn-parent as your theme, and that it contains either /registration/register.php or /register.php?

This works for me on a “vanilla” installation.

There is also a ticket for this in the trac already, so maybe keep an eye out there as well…

fyi- I have a ‘vanilla’ install with /registration/register.php. I changed the default welcome message because of the same inconsistency that the OP mentioned.
