User to User Messenger plugin

    Hi,

I’ve been looking for a few chat options that are compatible with BuddyPress. Pretty much, I want my users to be able to communicate with each other through a live chat and for those chats to be indexed in the message component of buddy press.

I’ve tried WordPress, BuddyPress Users Chat Plugin but it is riddled with very bad code and security vulnerabilities.

Anyone have other options…I’ve seen some online but they cost upwards of $200.

I’m even thinking of developing a solution myself.

    BP Better Messages

BP Better Messages – is a fully featured replacement for standard BuddyPress Messages. Plugin is fully backward compatible with BuddyPress Messages.
Websocket version (fast) $9.99 (licence) month, but I wonder if you only need to pay for one month

Could anyone give experiences or comparisons between iFlyChat and BP Better Messages? I need a solution that gives users the ability to have private chats and group chats with the ability to send attachments. Iflychat is expensive (if including the group chat option) and I’m concerned about the logging of private information, BP Better Messages seems like a good option but I wanted to get feedback first. Alternatively, if anyone has experience with any other solutions, that would be really appreciated too.

As you know, with Buddypress users see an email whenever someone sends them a message and they are offline. We have asked repeatedly to your support if Cometchat overrides BP’s direct messaging function at the basic pricing tier? Because Cometchat email notifications are according to your pricing menu are only available to the highest tier Enterprise pricing and that would cost $12,000 US per year! This functionality is something that Buddypress already does, free, so if CometChat ove rides this functionality then we cannot pay you $12,000 to get it back. Are we missing something? We have tried to ask your support this question but have not received a response. Thank you.

To followup, cometchat replied that their plugin won’t interfere with BP’s DM functionality, and in other words that even at their lowest price tier you can have both. We are going to implement on a site and will followup here on results. Thank you everyone on this thread!
