Users Can’t Register (HUGE Emergency)

    @beefi1123

    The kind people of reddit informed me that my site isn’t allowing registrations with the only feedback being that the choose password and confirm password fields highlight in red. I need to fix this ASAP or months of work is gone. Please let me know how to solve this. I am running Events Manager as well.

    Hi there,

    First thing to try is to deactivate all other plugins apart from BuddyPress and see if that works.

    Have you performed any customisations relating to the register form?

    The only one it could be is Elementor. When I deactivate and refresh, the page is blank.

    You mean when you deactivate Elementor the Register page content goes blank? How did you set up the page?

    @beefi1123

    It’s not through elementor. It’s just the default BP login page. I’m not sure if Events Manager changes the layout though, but its deactivation didn’t fix the problem.

    Have you got a link to the page?

    It’s volleyradar.com/register

    I just registered for your site with no problem, at least I got the activation email, so I don’t think you have a problem.

    Oh no, it is for sure a problem, 100%. There were multiple people that couldn’t register on reddit that told me they used generated passwords and lowercase passwords and I can’t even register myself right now.

    @venutius

    Then how was I able to register?

    @beefi1123

    Also, I said a couple people did go through. Literally a couple. The rest did not, and it doesn’t have anything to do with password strength.

    The only thinks that would prevent the form from submitting would be:

    Required fields not filled in
    Passwords don’t match
    Username not all lower case
    Privacy policy acceptance not checked.

    Did all those. Still no dice.

    I reckon that one fails because the email is gmail and gmail blocks emails from wordpress@yoursitename

    I’d try changing your sender name with CB Change Email Sender

    @beefi1123

    That might be it. Just noticed only one registrant that went through was gmail. rest were other emails. BRB

    So atm the email it comes from is admin@volleyradar.com. What would I put in CB’s field for Mail Sender Email?

    Venutius

    @venutius

    That would indicate you already have something changing your email sender, so maybe that’s not it. Admin is what I typically use.

    Yes, I use a site email through my hosting. So, I shouldn’t enter anything in the fields?

    Right now, CB shows:

    CB Mail Sender Name:
    CB Mail Sender Email:

    I guess what you could try it just using a username for the sender name? it just needs to be different to WordPress

    No luck.

    I’ve just tried it using your signup details and a different email. It failed, basically it seems to not like your choice of password. As I understand it BuddyPress does not do anything to check passwords but relies on the existing WordPress functions. I’m wondering if you’ve added anything to reject easy passwords?

    @beefi1123

    I had a few plugins: Sucuri , login lockdown, and loginpress, but I just deactivated those and still nothing.

    I tried the same details on my site and the registration succeeded

    @venutius

    So it’s looking like this is not BuddyPress but rather something else that is rejecting the passwords that are too simple.
