Visibility of xprofile fields cannot be changed by user

    Hi,
I use BuddyPress 1.6.4 with WP 3.5.1 and Huddle theme. I use the plugin ‘Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type’ as well.

For each field I can determine if a user is able to change the visibility for everyone, registered user and my friends. The status of field viewing is set to user changing. Some of the fields are set to everyone, registered user and my friends. After a user registered, all fields he set up in registration process are still viewable by visitors though some are set to registered user or my friends. In the user profile section there is no modus to change the visibility.

But if I change the status of field viewing to no changing by the user, all non public fields cannot be view by visitors. But the the user has no chance to change this by himself.

Does anybody knows why this happen?

PS: If I use the standard BuddyPress theme it works, but not with Huddle theme.

Please see my screenshots 1 and 2:

    2. http://www.socialmedialernen.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/screenshot2_huddle-theme.jpg

Where can I change this, any ideas?

    Thanks for help!

    Regards,
    Thorsten

As you indicated, this looks to be a theme issue. Your best bet is to contact the author of the huddle theme.

You are right but the author is not available for six months so I must find another way. Do you now which page is responsible in the standard BuddyPress theme? Is it easy to copy the responsible section of the plugin into the section of the Huddle theme?

I appreciate any support that help 🙂

https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.4/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/edit.php would normally correspond to huddle/members/single/profile/edit.php file. Since you’re using a premium theme, we have no way to know if the theme author changed the HTML structure of that page. Back up your theme’s edit.php file and watch out that when you change the PHP tags, you won’t mess up the HTML tags in return.
