Want membership site w/ sub domains but using same content on pages without cloning?

  • Hello,

I am looking for a way to “replicate” (that term is misunderstood so much so I hope to explain it) a wordpress site. Please let me know if any of the plugins shown here at buddypress will do what I am trying to accomplish.

    1. I have a single wordpress site. i.e. http://www.MyAmazingSite.com (not really the domain name but just for example)
    2. I want to be able to signup members so they can use this same site but have a sub domain name to it. It would bring up the SAME content as the parent site (www.MyAmazingSite.com) but would show that members unique name, email or whatever I (Super Admin) choose to have show up on the page.
Example: A member signs up and chooses the Member ID they want to use and the site is automatically created and activated after payment confirmation. http://TheirID.MyAmazingSite.com.

Another member signs up and does the same.. http://SecondMemberID.MyAmazingSite.com

NOTE: This is not replicating the same site for each member where there are now 3 separate sites or content for each member but each member is using the SAME content but with certain areas on the site/pages that are customizable for the member.

    3. In addition, I would want to give each member who signs up a page where they can place their own portfolio (picture and story).

Is this possible? If so, how?

If you want further clarification you can see an example of what I have done with an html site using outdated Perl. That is why I am wanting to use WordPress. Go to: http://www.getstartersite.com and click on the video to see how it works there. I want to do the same with this WordPress site using whatever plugins or customization is required.

    IN ADDITION:

I would like each member to be able to use the plugin for WordPress called ContactMe and MailChimp. So when a visitor comes to the first members site http://TheirID.MyAmazingSite.com and fills out a contact form that information is sent to that members ContactMe account OR MailChimp account as well as an email sent to the member notifying them of the request.

If a visitor comes to the other members site at http://SecondMemberId.MyAmazingSite.com and fill out a contact form that information would go to the SecondMembers account etc.

Is this possible with your plugins? If so, how?

Basically I am trying to offer a network marketing site. I will create the sites and offer it to our members to use to promote their opportunity or product.

    Thanks for your help.

You can do all that when you transform your single WP into a multisite installation by creating a network with subdomain structure https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
    Multisite support forum – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite

“same content” – if you mean that each user has a portfolio page, or about me page, a contact us page, etc. this can be achieved by creating a custom theme which you can designate as the default theme for each new subsite created by your members.

Create a network/go multisite before installing BuddyPress plugin if you want to add social networking features – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/

    Hello,

What I mean by “same content” is whatever I post on a page such as the main index page or other secondary pages, it would show up on the member sites as well. It would be the same content but even more than that it would be the same in that it’s not another duplicate site using the same content.

For example: I create a master page which has “Hello World, this is Ron. Take a look at this Business Advantage bla bla bla [ picture of something ]
The member would have the same site but it would be http://TheirID.MyWonderfulSite.com. The main page would be the same content but it would pull in the members first name and place it where I have my name. “Hello World, this is [Joe]. Take a look at this Business Advantage bla bla bla [picture of something].

When you replicate a site like this and have 1000 members, you don’t have 1000 pages of content. You have 1 page and all 1000 members are using the same page but with their tags showing like their name, email etc.

In addition, they would be able to have their OWN unique blog page or bio page which would have 1000 instances of that.

    Does this help?

That is what a network marketing replicating website does. You can see what I am talking about by going to my site at http://www.getstartersite.com. It’s being done already. I just want to do it with WordPress.

    Thanks,

    Ron
