WP + bbPress + BuddyPress (integrate and synchronize)

    Would I like to know if it is possible to install BuddyPress with WordPress (not WP-MU, only the WP)? Is it still if it is possible to maintain synchronized with the bbPress forum?

    Because I intend (WP + bbPress + BuddyPress):

    – Users of the blog can see the list of registred users;

    – If it is registred user it can see the other users profile

    – Can send solicitation to be friend

    – If it be accepted as friend, they can send private messages

    – It is possible, in the profile, to show the posts list and favorite topics that the user added of the blog and forum

    – And other details, as comments published in the blog, topics or posts published on the forum

    Then, its community is a perfect functionality, what many users do look for in sites, and with BuddyPress I do think all this is possible, but don’t I know if it is possible to integrate with WP and the bbPress and to maintain synchronized, using the same registration? And is there complete documentation for me to do the integration?

    Thanks.

    bp does not run with the standalone version of wp yet. It requires wpmu right now.

    It is possible, to integrate bbPress + WordPress (MU), i did it my self already ;)

    And take a look @ Burtadsit .. You still need WPMU for right now, to run BuddyPress …

    Is there any way tho, that I dont know if it will help with what he is asking but, to use a wordpress MU and Buddypress….aka set up buddypress on a different directory…and still be able to integrate it with the normal wordpress? What I mean is…SO that when people use their budypress accoutns, they can comment on a post from the normal wordpress and it will appear in their activity?

    bp and wpmu use the same user table. A bp ‘account’ is a wp ‘account’. You can use any theme you like on your blog. All blog posts and their comments show up in activity from any blog that hasn’t been set to ‘private’.

    You see. What I want to do tho is keep my wordpress blog intact. With that theme that it has right now and what not. And to have, as another “website” yet integrated with my wordpress blog, my socialnetwork section. So with the buddypress thing, I can have my other kind of theme, yet if people use their accounts from buddypress to comment on my original wordpress blog, it will still be connected..they will still be able to see it on their activity.

    You have an existing wp install and want to connect another install, buddypress, to that? I don’t think that is possible. You could install wpmu and bp. Import your existing wp blog into wpmu and then install bp on a different blog. That you can do.

    Your current blog would be imported as blog id 1 and bp could be installed on another blog you create. That would work.

    If you ask me, it makes ‘things’ just more complex and harder to get working ;)

    And there is a plugin for wordpress to makes these activities do I need?

    Because I need to do that “community integrated” with some urgency, and don’t I know if you have estimates of when the BP will be distributed to the WP?

    adv_user, sometime in the next several months. There isn’t any specific *public* timeline for releasing a version of bp that works on regular wp. Only automattic knows.

    Ok Burtadsit, thanks for your information.

    And you know if the BP to WP will have features that I mentioned in the first topic?

    @burtadsit

    – It is possible, in the profile, to show the posts list and favorite topics that the user added of the blog and forum

    Everything except the above is a standard part of bp.

    Ok!! Then it is excellent. Because for this feature above, there is a plugin (WP):

    I wonder if it is possible to integrate BuddyPress with WordPress (not MU)?

    Or if there is now forecast to make this possible?

    Thanks

    1) BuddyPress 1.2 will be compatible with WordPress and WordPress MU. It will be out soon.

    2) Don’t resurrect 9 month old threads ;)
