Can I use WP plugin Countries (Import and manage a list of countries into WordPress site as Custom Post Types) for BP drop down box in Profile fields and how?

plugin is outdated and a support question about how to use it with buddypress is… unanswered.
In the early stage of BuddyPress, countries where included to Core and finally removed around 1.1

Honestly, you have 3 options:
1) wasting time&money to code a plugin or tweaking BuddyPress and a third party plugin (long option).
2) let the user enter his country when asked for (short option).
3) do nothing (optionnal option)
