I’m unable to update the profile picture on a subscriber account.
When I attempt to upload an image via the BuddyPress profile page, I get the following message:
‘An error occurred. Please try again later.’

No problem with the admin account.

I’d love to get more details here. If you have benchmark or more data about the size of the database and queries performed. If you use Query Monitor, you can see a lot about it.

Other than the user handbook, already mentioned, trying BuddyPress out is THE BEST way to learn it, IMO. BuddyPress is a complex software with varying features, which allows for multiple use cases.

I have looked for tutorials on Youtube but the ones I found are 7 or 8 years out of date. So difficult to get an overview.

@pineapplepalm, The reason it wasn’t posted until now was because when serious vulnerabilities are found the announcements are held back until patches can be released, and people have already had time to update their sites. Otherwise you’d be announcing the vulnerabilities to hackers before the fixes had been distributed.

Hi! We have tested the soon-to-be released BuddyPress 14.5.0 with WordPress 6.9 and haven’t found any issue yet. I personally tested with the Astra theme too.

Hi,
On the user profile you can use
$user_id = bp_displayed_user_id();

to get the user id of the currently displayed user.
Same way, you can get username by

$username = bp_get_displayed_user_username()

I’ve got a similar problem on my page of members.
If i choose “Alphabetical” filter, i can see all my users (about 1800).
But if i choose “Last active” or “recent registred” filters, i’ve got only about 12 users displayed …
