    Hello,
I’m working with WordPress MU 2.8.6 and Buddypress 1.1.3

I have successfully set up forums under the buddypress menu. However, when I set up a group (and enable discussion forums) I am still unable to post a new topic. I click on the “post new” link and nothing happens. Help most appreciated.

    thanks
    Michelle

Please answer these so we know a bit more about your setup:

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running?
    2. Did you install WPMU as a directory or subdomain install?
    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory?
    4. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU? If so, from which version?
    5. Was WPMU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress?
    6. Which version of BuddyPress (BP) are you running?
    7. Did you upgraded from a previous version of BP? If so, from which version?
    8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated?
    9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes?
    10. Have you modified the core files in any way?
    11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php?
    12. If running bbPress, which version? Or did your BuddyPress install come with a copy of bbPress built-in?
    13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files.
    14. Which company provides your hosting?

Hi, any clues on what I might have missed out yet?

  • Profile picture of Bowe Bowe said 2 years, 4 months ago:

    Hi Michelle,

I think I know where the problem lies.. BuddyPress 1.1 does not need the BPPress integration plugin and it might actually cause problems. So I would advise you to uninstall BuddyPress completely remove buddypress (also remove the BuddyPress tables from the database) and disable and delete the BB integration. Then install BP again and activate the forum component on your BuddyPress admin page.

Let me know if this helps

  • Do you know the names of the BBPress template pack tables so i can delete them from my DB?

    Thanks,

Same issue here…new install and can’t add forum topics as bp doesn’t list groups in the dropdown menu.

  • sorted it.

1 – go to forum settings in MU admin and click ‘re-install’
2 – select ‘Set up a new bbPress installation’ (simple on click thing, not as scary as it sounds)
3 – Complete Installation and set up a new group and start a forum post.

    should now work ok.

I too cannot create a forum topic. I tried disabling then creating a new forum. Then, I tried to create a topic. My Groups appear and I am able to select them, but the new topic does not appear. I tried using different browsers, but that didn’t make a difference.
