  • I’ve created a new default home template for my buddypress groups. With the code below, I’ve attempted to display the content of a wp page whose name corresponds to the group name. The loop I have below is in […]

  • Nope .. that was an attempt to see if there was something in that call that was changing things. Just forgot to uncomment when I pasted over. Any ideas?

Hmm, not quite what I’m getting at mercime. The ability to review groups – or to add functionality of any kind to existing groups – is already covered.

What I need is the ability to duplicate group […]

It looks like this site has employed copies of the groups component in order to make a complete separation between plugin groups and theme groups.

I’d like to achieve something similar by making a separation […]

  • Matt Edminster started the forum topic P2 Buddypress not rendering in the group BuddyPress Groupblog:

I’m getting an entirely unstyled version of P2 BP when I visit the blog link on my group. In settings, I’ve selected the P2 BP theme, redirected to the Blog template, not redirected Group Home, and opted for a per blog layout selection. With very few plugins installed, that is unlikely to be the problem. [...]

Has anybody come across something like an integration of the P2 style front-end post editor with the buddypress status editor? That’d be just about perfect.

Well, maybe this has something to do with my problem … but in the Location field I’ve created in xprofile I put in for example “Tallinn, Estonia” as opposed to “Tallinn”. I’m assuming that this is the way the plugin draws its location data.

  • Matt Edminster posted on the forum topic ETA on BP 1.2.7 in the group Requests & Feedback:

What is the status with the radio button issue that was re-opened? Is the delay somehow tied to this unresolved issue? If so, that would be an explanation of sorts. But with the appearance of Jeff’s privacy plugin tied to 1.2.7, it really makes this look like a point release rather than a set of [...]

Looking forward to using this plugin. I like the way you’ve structured it: no muss, no fuss. But … yep, it’s not displaying. I’m running a theme based off the standard bp theme, have a Location field in xprofile, have populated that field with “City, Country”, and have chosen to display the map before the [...]

Hey @DJPaul, thanks for the reply. The followers plugin is great. I use it myself on our installation. I guess what I’m hoping is that management of friends/followed might someday be possible via user defined “collections” (to use the language of the #Elgg platform). In Elgg – which I decided against mainly for usability reasons – these…[Read more]

@DJPaul Hey Paul, wondering if you can expand a little on what you are referring to in this comment: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/possible-to-add-another-friends-list/#post-21485. When researching options for our social network, I first dug into Elgg which has the ability to create friend lists and…[Read more]

    • Hi Matt.
I think I was referring to the fact that at the moment, relationships in BuddyPress core are one-to-one; both people must have each other as a friend. You can’t have a one-sided relationship (a ”follower” or a ”fan”) in core, but have a look at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/.

        • I would like to see one day better or perhaps more dynamic relationship mapping in core, but it’s not on the roadmap for the next version. Ditto something similar with privacy. I’m stil waiting with everyone else to see how Jeff’s plugin works.

I have been using WP-FB Autoconnect because the author has already addressed integration with Buddypress. I recommend the pro version as well as more settings here can be customized. Support has also been pretty good with quick responses.

  • Matt Edminster posted an update in the group Creating & Extending:

I’d like to include a right aligned sidebar on single group and profile pages (similar to the layout here on buddypress.org). But because the subnav div is located within each single item template, I would need to edit each of these single item templates separately with a call to the new sidebar(s). Is there a way I can do this through template actions?

@travel-junkie Hey Boris … my fingernails are down to nubs in anticipation of your jobboard buddypress plugin. I’m currently running JobManager for WP but I’d much prefer to have something that is built on the buddypress framework. A couple of thoughts though:

    1) Can you include a check box in group admin settings to disable the job board…[Read more]
