no need for a plugin to change that.
“admin” is the username who’s added by BP for a profile. So if you want to read Admin Stream Directory, change the username from admin to Admin.
You can also use the localisation file (buddypress.mo) to change the whole text, ie. Activity Stream to Overview or anything else.
http://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/That said, it’s not a good practice to use such username.
Read here from Matt what he says about: http://ma.tt/2013/04/passwords-and-brute-force/Maybe a plugin ? Deactivate all except BP and give a try.
check bp-friends/bp-friends-functions.php:100 and 109 for the original BP wording.
Check also the po file who must be declared in utf8.
See also if the greek wording use some special characters, like apostrophe who must be in html and not in natural typingExample:
The letter zeta is usually ΞΆ but must be written & zeta ; or & #950 ; (without space) if used in a php function or a js part.
http://www.wizcity.com/Computers/Characters/GreekUTF8.phpdouble check what you translate is correctly writen.
Ie, %1$s joined the group %2$s
The mandatory part must be %1$s (the username) and %2$s (group name) Only joined the group is in greek.
Same thing for %1$s and %2$s are now friends. “and” and “are now friends” can be translated. If you already did this correctly, it could be that you’re victim of gettext latency. When a server is busy, you have to reload several times the page to refresh your browser, or to wait a little while.
Also, since 1.7, template & localisation are hanging in some case because of a weird loading priority affecting bbp and BP. It’s not the reason why you can’t get a translation, but it may be an explanation about a buggy environment.

apologize if i mentionned your blog, but it was the only place i found speaking about this problem.
FYI, “throttling” is used in BP 1.7.2, but a minima. Should be extanded much more. I guess it’s preferably you open an ehancement ticket on the Trac.
And thank you for sharing your code.

hi all,
you can perhaps investigate around here: http://a-patricksaad-z.blogspot.fr/2013/01/download-buddypress-163-with-activity.htmldid you followed the specific instructions about permalinks with webmatrix ?

maybe you can also try to connect to i18n svn
http://i18n.trac.buddypress.org/browser?order=nameInstall Tortoise and use same credentials as here to connect for upload.
Aside, the id_ID wasn’t updated since 1.5.4 on SVN. Perhaps try to contact the latest author @sofyand
@mercime, can you give some better/other advice please ?
Official BuddyPress dowload is here, and only here:
http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tagsthe .mo file must be named buddypress-xx_XX.mo and should be in
wp-content/languages/buddypress-xx_XX.mo
xx_XX is the language prefix (use buddypress-id_ID.mo)http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/Usual-Language-Codes.html
simply keep a copy of each translation file on your computer !
buddypress 1.6/bp-languages/
- buddypress.pot
- buddypress-xx_XX.po
- buddypress-xx_XX.mobuddypress 1.7.1/bp-languages/
- buddypress.pot
- buddypress-xx_XX.po (which is first a copy of the previous 1.6 version and who becames the new version after you made your translations)
- buddypress-xx_XX.moetc…
Additionnally, and depending of your poEdit commands, the unused/obsolete strings are commented and stays in the po file.
For example the string “Hey dude” is used in bp x.x pot version.
You make your translation of “hey dude” for that x.x version.2 mounth later, a new version comes up with “Hey you!”.
You make a copy of the previous .po file, than you import the new pot file with poEdit.
After the import, poEdit says 1 new string, 1 obsolete.
The new string is “Hey you!”
The obsolete string is “Hey dude”.You translate the new string, and poEdit silently comment the obsolete string and keep it in the new po file you just update, AS LONG AS YOU DON’T tell it to delete unused strings.
But you have probably to read also some poEdit documentation and tutorials to find out how it works.
what is the theme you use ?
Have you correctly setup BP pages ? Each activated BP component should use his own page.
Have you correctly setup your permalinks ? Can be everything except “default”.@cartographer, i guess you got a PBCK.
If there is a way to merge the two files I will keep both the translated wordings and the new ones (if there wiil be), right?
False !
Let me explain. Each new BP version is shipped with a pot file in his language directory. This file is normally up to date for that current version. The BP language directory is a placeholder for user guidance who contain only the pot file. This folder is updated like any other BP folder when you upgrade.
A pot file does nothing by itself. It only contain ALL wording. The elder and (enventually) the new one. And there is nothing to update or to merge for you.
BP (and WP or bbP or plugins or themes) use php gettext function to translate strings/words. And gettext use only a compiled file with a .mo extension.
When you make a translation, you can use a sofware like poEdit who helps you to translate those strings. To do that, you create a new projekt based on a import of the pot file. Once finished, you save the work which gives a .po file and poEdit will generate automatically the corresponding .mo file.
The pot file contains only the strings in the original language provided by the author.
The po file contains the original strings AND there translations.
Both file can be viewed/read in a text editor like notepad++ for example. These files are only “working files”.But to get the translation on your site, you must use a .mo file. This file is compiled by poEdit and cannot be read by humans. But gettext can, and that’s why this file must be on your server.
have you assigned a page for “members” in the BP settings ?
For the extra “ideas” page, you must create a page called “ideas” and assign it an existing BP template – see the select box on the right admin side when on the page editor.
each BP version provide a pot file who contain ALL wording.
each bbPress version provide that too.You have to check your BP/bbP translation after each update and eventually update the existing po file with the new version .pot file. Save the .po file to generate the compiled .mo file and upload it to the appropriate folder:
wp-content/languages/buddypress-xx_XX.mo
wp-content/languages/bbpress/bbpress-xx_XX.mo(xx-XX is your language prefix)
If some BP or bbP wordings are missing, it’s generally due to a third party theme. In that case, you have to add them yourself to the theme po file or ask the author, or wait for a theme update.
you have different choices to set up forums.
Sitewide forum (like bp.org)
Group forum
or bothRead here how to achieve this: http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
@skippyg,
you have to check if your WP is working correctly first.
You installed it in a subdirectory and this is bit more complex as the usual root install. Please read here first: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
and follow the given instruction.
@buidinh1803
do you have already WP in vietnamese ?
Even if the page seems to be abandonned, read here for some advice about vi_VI po/mo
http://vi.wordpress.org/
WP translations are here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp
3.5.x in vietnamese is not translated for the moment, so you probably have to search for previous version. And 3.4 is only 79% translatedNo luck too for bp vietnamese translation: nothing !
See here: http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/1.7.xSo you have to translate BP in your language, (read codex if you don’t know how to do that or search on this forum) then you have to add buddypress-vi_VI.mo into wp-content/languages/ folder
you can use this css trick from within a child theme or theme style.css file
li#members-all span, li#activity-all span { display: none; }Adjust user default avatar in wp Settings > discussion. BP use by default the mystery man.
And no theme ?
