Is there an expected release date for BP 1.6? I do not like hacking core files that much, so I d rather wait for the next release. As I can see the trac says 82% for BP 1.6 already. . .

Take what you can use and ditch the rest.
P.S. s2member got updated recently and the changelog now says that it allows free membership that can be upgraded by the users anytime. Sounds good to me.
