I’d like to see the current implementation of Group Forums be deprecated out of core and put into a legacy plugin. As it stands, the Group Forums feature is error prone and inflexible.

Problems:

– Creates a ton of sub-forums, cluttering the forum index with ~5 post sub-forums.

What modifications in particular are you referring to?

We really wanted to release our child theme to the public, but I doubt Bootstrapmaster (ACME theme) would let us do that.

Using the excellent Firmasite as our parent theme, our child theme is a modified version of the ACME Dashboard. It is indeed marketed as an admin theme, but we found it to be nicely suited for a clean discussion-centric layout.

Hmmm, interesting. Could that still affect new groups made with group forums though? Because we’re experiencing this same issue with those as well.

Nice work. I’m very curious what your bbPress styling looks like, but I couldn’t find a link to a forum in any of your example sites.

Truly excellent changes. Been meaning to rant about “Notifications being extracted into its own component.”, really happy to see that being done.

I think PMs should be next up for extraction.

That doesn’t help make a separate group though, it only explains how to extend it. We want to keep our groups as they are, while adding a new component, based on groups, but with its own slug and so forth.

I can’t seem to get featured images working. It doesn’t seem to work in TwentyTen or TwentyEleven either, but with custom themes like Canvas (WooThemes) and Visual (DevPress) it seems to work. Why might that be?
