In reply to: 1.5 theme compatibility page missing?In reply to: How much memory does BuddyPress need?
This is a little confusing….
Did you install wordpress and buddypress yourself ‘via ftp’ or did you use a webhost’s automated system and how far did you get with wordpress before these errors occured? It might be easier to re-install wordpress from scratch manually….
Renaming the folder would disable buddypress so that shouldn’t be a factor, suggesting this is not a buddypress problem. Have you installed any ‘buddypress’ plugins and what wordpress plugins have you installed? Are you sure these are all compatible with your versions of bp/wp ( https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/plugin-compatibility/ ) .
To get back into your wordpress installation you could try https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F
Did you go through the theme compatibility process for buddypress: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/ ?
In reply to: How much memory does BuddyPress need?Not all hosts allow you to increase memory that way. Some do not allow it at all!
To get into your admin you could use ftp ( or your web-host’s control panel ) to disable some plugins by renaming the directory/folder(s) – ie:- /wp-content/plugins/theplugin/ – Some plugins use a lot of memory.
If the theme you are using has lot’s of options it could also be quite memory hungry.
I find the check memory allocation limit feature of https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-system-health/ ( screenshots ) useful to find out how much memory WP thinks it has. There are other alternatives though…
In reply to: Search form… It’s gone?That search, in bp-default header.php, is within the site header area.
You seem to be talking about the adminbar which I dont think includes a search, though I seem to remember that there was one once…
It looks like you’re using a converted version of http://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/aggregate/ which has a preview: http://www.elegantthemes.com/preview/Aggregate/ showing a search feature in their adminbar so maybe it is a theme option?
In reply to: Search form… It’s gone?What have you done with it?
It is in the bp-default header.php: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L25
In reply to: Page title issue since BP 1.5If your site name in wordpress is mysite.commysite.com then that is probably what should be there.
To change it have a look at https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_title and https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/bloginfo
In reply to: Compatibility Issue?It’s never a good idea with software like this to run redundant versions and you would face increasing problems with other plugin etc compatibility and potentially security.
Maybe the theme can be updated, but It can be very hard for anyone to be particularly helpful with commercial themes unless they buy the theme to examine it….
You could try to get help on the theme’s support forum: http://support.stoodeo.com/forum/huddle-buddypress-amp-wordpress-theme – as non verified buyer I can’t even see the posts….
( or maybe: http://themeforest.net/item/huddle-wordpress-buddypress-community-theme/discussion/835549 )
In reply to: Compatibility Issue?If http://themeforest.net/item/huddle-wordpress-buddypress-community-theme/835549 is what you are talking about, then it looks like it may not have been upgraded for buddypress 1.5+
In reply to: Where to set permalink?WordPress Settings > Permalinks
ie: http://example.com/wp-admin/options-permalink.phpIn reply to: [resolved] Register Page Loads BlankNot sure what you’ve done to get the white page, but is https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-clear-the-previous-registration-form-data-1/ a similar error?
In reply to: Re-direct to other page?Couldn’t you use something like travel-junkie’s walled garden technique:
`
function sh_walled_garden()
{
global $bp;
if( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || bp_is_page( BP_FORUMS_SLUG ) || bp_is_page( BP_GROUPS_SLUG ) )
return;if( ! bp_is_blog_page() && ! is_user_logged_in() )
bp_core_redirect( bp_get_signup_page() );
}add_action( ‘bp_init’, ‘sh_walled_garden’ );
`
This goes in bp-custom.php and hides members and activity from those not logged in but enables forums and groups for everyone. It can also be customised…..Chris Clayton discussed a similar method here
Having different menus for logged in users is discussed here – also see here
On Buddypress > Settings select No for Hide admin bar for logged out users?
See: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#bp-settings
Since buddypress 1.5 you can use:
`
define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true );
`
I use it in bp-custom.php although it can go in wp-config.phpIf you are using configure-smtp then, from what I can see, it will be sending via smtp not php.
Have you tried using WP Mail SMTP? It can send via php…
The last post on https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/register-confirmationactivation-email-is-not-sent-out/ might be useful (If you hadn’t already found it)…
In reply to: local changes to pluginsCould you explain further what you mean?
Lots of plugins have filters and other techniques that can be used from functions.php
Is https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/206 – from their knowledge base – any help? ?
In reply to: Can I integrate BP into my custom WP Theme?It shouldn’t be too hard to adapt your own theme using the buddypress template pack and the codex guide
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/ and https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/ might be useful, particularly if your theme is based on either…
An Alternative to that, and if you aren’t happy with any of the buddypress themes, is to build a child of bp-default. A good place to start is: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Is http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma/ the theme you are referring to?
It doesn’t seem to be buddypress compatible out of the box.
Have you installed the buddypress template pack and gone through the process of making it compatible? ie: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
See also: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/ or for twentyten
In reply to: Default email settingshttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/ and https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ can change wordpress default email settings, but it’s not clear if that’s what you are asking about….
In reply to: BP Authorize.neteShop plugin should be compatible with buddypress and has a built in Authorise.net Merchant Gateway…
In reply to: Best Way to do a 301 RedirectI use it with buddypress…. Since bp 1.5 the main buddypress pages show up with the plugin default settings and you can add extra pages on the settings page…
There might be a better plugin (or even theme…) to handle buddypress sitemap.xml files out there though….
In reply to: viewing 50 of the 100 membershttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/unconfirmed/ ?
or is it a ‘paging’ issue?
In reply to: Outgoing Emails ProblemHave you tried: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ might be useful….
In reply to: Best Way to do a 301 RedirectI don’t know of anything specific you can do about completely deleted pages. I try to avoid them.
Having a google sitemap.xml file might help. I use: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/ but there are others…..
