In reply to: Error after deactivate buddypress.HELP!!
I’m not asking non-coders to do it, I’m suggesting ways in which coders can do it and submit patches so *everyone* can benefit.
In reply to: remove/modify copyright textmaybe he accidentally it.
In reply to: White page after activating pluginCan you find and check your error logs?
In reply to: enable theme 1.2 sitewideGet the New Blog Defaults plugin.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/
That will set whatever theme you pick as the default for new blogs.
To change the theme that’s already on exisiting blogs, it depends on what theme they have selected already.
In reply to: Error after deactivate buddypress.HELP!!You can actually switch themes on users under certain conditions via a plugin, so no, it’s not a core thing to go in WP.
Second, you can make the theme not error out when BP is turned off. Someone should run thru the code with some ifs and submit a patch.
In reply to: After the Deadline & BuddyPressHas anyone asked Rafe (the dev) directly? He’s pretty friendly.
In reply to: BuddyPress Themes In WP Theme Repo – Please UploadWorkin’ on it!
Have one ready today, just having issues getting it repo-ready.
In reply to: HELP: Upgrade issues – Slugs & Missing contentWhat about the backwards compatibility plugin?
(and yes, MU uses pretty permalinks)
BP as a project is still pretty young and a lot of the big time devs who do crazy good work haven;t had a chance to explore it fully yet. Now that it is available for single WP, I expect to see not only more widespread usage, but also some fancy-schmancy stuff happening in the future. Give it six months – my money is on an explosion.
WordPress & MU are merging, so I doubt they’d want to make a special version. Really, the only hurdle here is posting to the blog area from the front end. Most everything else is about to be discovered I think.
In reply to: Blogs can’t be created once BP is installed“MU works fine before BP is installed.”
Did you try creating a blog before adding BP? vhost means what kind fo blogs did you set up, subdomains or subfolders?
In reply to: Theme IssueShe can just add that to her existing WP theme, actually.
Having worked with that theme before, you’ll also have to modify the html in the buddypress templates that were added to your theme folder.
For thsoe who didn’t go look, she’s added BP to an exisiting WP install and is adapting her current template.
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)“7) I am on WPMU. How can I blacklist certain usernames?”
Site Admin -> Options. Look for baned usernames.
In reply to: Buddymatic Theme and BuddyPressworkin’ on it…
It has happened to me before, so I’ll put it on my “to test” list.
In reply to: New users can’t registerI’m gonna blame my faulty memory here.
In reply to: New users can’t register“I had a Sys Admin friend look at it and he said that the “sign in/register” link appeared to require a template that didn’t exist in the theme.”
That’s incorrect. It doesn’t work based on theme templates.
Did you define a register slug?
I’d put a download manager on your site anyway.
In reply to: Convert a WordPress Theme to a BuddyPress ThemeThat’s pretty much how to do it. You have to go thru the BP files you added to your theme and change the markup to match your WP theme.
In reply to: books – getting startedBuddyPress for Dummies is out or almost out. Also the WordPress Bible, Digging into WordPress and WordPress for Dummies.
In reply to: How to find a Devthere’s also twitter, http://jobs.wordpress.net, the wp-pro mailing list and other job sites.
In reply to: Member directory doesn’t list all membersI think it’s becasue they haven’t had any activity or haven’t done anything on the site.
In reply to: How to control spam registration?Change the register slug and add more required options on the BP signup page. The sploggers look for the defaults, so change ’em.
In reply to: How to find a DevEvery BP or even MU dev that I know of is eyeball deep in work, in part because of the new version (updating their stuff) and/or client work, because everyone wants it. (see also :needing to update)
“The irony here: I really actually only need a code snippet (at least that’s what I’m guessing). “
And there’s the rub. Some thing you’ve asked for are code snippets, fair enough. But then they are followed by more.
The sum total so far has been hours and hours of development time. Explaining it over the phone or Skype for someone else to do takes longer.
I know this because I’ve done it.
