In reply to: Merging WordPress and BuddyPress
Or enable the network:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
http://wpebooks.com/2010/09/how-to-enable-multisite-in-wordpress/Then click the “add site” button to make /community/. Activate buddypress there. put your buddypress theme on that blog. Problem solved.
In reply to: Theme Links to Buddypress ProfileIn reply to: Creating links to profile pagesIn reply to: 404 error page on most buddypress linkscan you see the default /about/ page that was created?
If not, mod_rewrite is not reading the htaccess file.
Then you’ll need to put them on their own install.
Not a buddypress issue. It’s all to o with the blog settings.
To test: disable buddypress. Try to comment while logged out.
In reply to: WP 3.0.4 Multisite Breaks BP Forum“When I manually upgraded to 3.0.4, I overwrote config and htaccess files with default values, I had to update these files with multisite settings to ‘re-enable’.”
But you still have mutlisite tables in the database.
white screen = php error. Until you look in the error logs to find out what is up, none of us can give you much more help.
In reply to: Deactivate Network?Deactivate all plugins first.
then when you reactivate, they’ll detect that the network is no longer there.
In reply to: Can use WordPress build a micro-blog system?“BP must built a group first, “
No, that is incorrect.
“and everyone has his own ‘timeline’ in twitter.”
look at your activity stream. Go to your profile page.
In reply to: Other blogs just like the default blog“Too bad that old theme of BuddyPress isn’t available anymore. “
Sure it is. All old code is held in trac. you;d have to update it for the latest verison.
like I said in another email, you’re setting a buddypress theme on a subsite – where buddypress is not used. THAT is the issue. you have to strip the BP parts out of a copy fo the theme.
In reply to: Other blogs just like the default blog“define(‘WP_DEFAULT_THEME’, ‘twentyten’);”
This line says “use twenty ten on new blogs”.
Put the theme’s folder name in there.
In reply to: Starting theme from BP or WP?Just updating that the merging didn’t happen.
Dev for that theme is on hold.In reply to: Spammers attacking, help!“how to disallow bots to follow signup link?”
Put a nofollow, noindex on it, right in the theme where it is linked. And change the default text that is linked. If you look at your access logs and your visitor stats, you’ll see they basically google for you.
In reply to: Can use WordPress build a micro-blog system? This is already built in? If I type in @youlichika you will see it in your activity stream here. Just go look at your profile.
In reply to: Really — how to begin?Do you have a BuddyPress menu in the admin area? Are you running multisite?
Check your error logs.
Check the files on the server. When stuff suddenly stops working with no changes on your end, it is almost entirely something on the server side. Hosts DO run updates to the software on the server and sometimes settings get reset.
In reply to: Can’t change site name with buddypress themeBasically, to clarify: you only need to use a BuddyPress theme on the main site where Buddypress is activated. On the user blogs, just use a regular wordpress theme.
In reply to: everything in excerpt is put in the same paragraphExcerpts usually strip tags and are all in one “chunk”, yes. It’s a basic WordPress themeing issue, not a bp one.
In reply to: Inspired to Say “Thank You!”And you are very welcome.

Comments like this really do keep us going.

It’s exactly the same – it just pulls plugins from the wp repo tagged with “buddypress”.
In reply to: OMG! I Have Hundreds of import.php.### Files!WHERE are the file located? These are not core WP/buddypress files.
In reply to: Problems to create a new blogAnd what are your registration settings under Super Admin -> Options?
In reply to: excerpt not working with buddypressThis is a WordPress template issue and nothing to do with BuddyPress.
you shoudl ask over on the wordpress forums.
In reply to: Running on one blog in multisite network…@techguy she also posted in the multisite forum. She only has one network, not looking for multiple. And she’s trying to have it show on a blog other than the main site.
In reply to: Running on one blog in multisite network…Network activate it. That’s all you do. Then it runs on the MAIN site.
If you want the Buddypress home base to be on a different site, you need to add a line in the wp-confgi.php file to tell it to do so.
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id );
And replace $blog_id with the actual IDd number of the site you want it to run on.
