In reply to: Convert a WordPress Theme to a BuddyPress Theme
A tutorial for this will be put up, it’s not a priority until after 1.2 is released.
In reply to: PHP Fatal error RC2 -> RC3If you’re using a child theme you’ll need to copy over the header.php again as it has changed. I’ve just searched, this function is not called anywhere in RC3, so make sure all the files were updated.

In reply to: BP 1.2 RC2: Sitewide activity feed broken?Works fine on testbp – http://testbp.org/activity/feed/
In reply to: Help with BuddyPress Friends Loop<?php if ( bp_has_members( 'user_id=' . bp_loggedin_user_id() ) ) : ?>In reply to: Help with BuddyPress Friends LoopTry hardcoding with a user_id to begin with to see if that works:
<?php if ( bp_has_members( 'user_id=1' ) ) : ?>In reply to: rtl support?Yes, this will be in 1.2.
In reply to: Call to undefined function bp_activity_update_meta()You should be using the wp_ajax_ hook to run your AJAX functions and using the ajaxurl parameter in JS as the request URL. IF you do that then the WP environment should be loaded. Basically exactly how all ajax is done in bp-default.
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageTo be honest the way it is now is the way every WordPress theme designer is used to. It’s the way WordPress does it natively. Using home.php is actually not the best idea since it overrides all settings – as we found out in the end.
In reply to: Call to undefined function bp_activity_update_meta()It’s important to clear this up before 1.2 final, can we get a ticket in trac please? Thanks.
In reply to: [1.2] Child Theme Best PracticesNone.
In reply to: New Blogs appear with default WP themeThis is how it’s supposed to work. Blogs are just normal WordPress blogs where users can select any WordPress theme you provide.
In reply to: Adding Location to Groups and MembersThis is an old thread, it’s waaaaay out of date now, please start a new one. You can use the group extension API to do this. Or you can try this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-member-map/
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageCopy your index.php contents into a new template called blog.php.
Add this to the very top:
<?php /* Template Name: Blog Home */ ?>Then create a new page called “Blog” in your wp-admin area. On the right menu of the page creation screen you’ll see a dropdown called “Template”, select “Blog Home” and save the page.
Go to “Settings > Reading” and check the “A static page (select below)” and select nothing for the first dropdown and “Blog” for the second dropdown. Save.
In reply to: [1.2] Child Theme Best PracticesYes exactly.
In reply to: [1.2] Child Theme Best PracticesIn reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageI can’t follow this thread, can you post exactly what you are trying to do in a single sentence?
In reply to: Visibility of posts in Group Activity StreamsThis was a bug in the RC, if you upgrade to the trunk this is fixed.
In reply to: How to Find the Correct Theme Path for Child Themes? No don’t. locate_template() is what you should use.
The user_id is not required to record in the activity stream. Check how bp-group-twitter does it.
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageThere will be no classic theme in 1.2 final. Anyone who downloads the backwards compatibility plugin will be able to use it though.
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageYou also need at least one page to see this option. So you might want to create a page to show blog posts on such as “News”. Then select the appropriate options in “Settings > Reading”.
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageThis is fixed in trunk. Now you can just select “Activity Stream” as a page that you can use for the front page in “Settings > Reading”. This will also let you choose a static page instead, or a page to show posts on.
In reply to: adding content to the 1.2 default theme homepageI’ll do some work on this to better support a custom page as the home page.
I hope the policy will be changed regarding child themes, since the default theme is bundled with BuddyPress I don’t think there is much of an issue.
