In reply to: New users can’t register
It will use the BP slugs for registration if the template files exist, otherwise the old wp-signup.php or wp-register.php will kick in.
In reply to: Warning Error MessageAlso, if the above all looks ok, try:
include( STYLESHEETPATH . '/bp/bp-functions.php' );File a bug for this please, it was working before so something must have happened.
In reply to: Group Twitter PluginI need to update the plugin, it’s on my list.
This should not be happening, and it is not happening on my test installs. Try this on a fresh installation (and database) and try again.
In reply to: Convert a WordPress Theme to a BuddyPress Theme@armandmorin – it’s more than likely either the “container” or “content” div in your WordPress theme. The BuddyPress template pack uses:
[header]
<div id="container">
<div id="content">
[content]
</div>
<div id="sidebar">
[sidebar]
</div>
</div>
[footer]If your WordPress theme doesn’t match this, then there are about 6 or 7 templates (mainly members/index.php groups/index.php etc etc) that you will need to tweak this html layout in to match the one used by your theme.
Once you have it matched, then the content should sit in the correct place and not break the layout. If you’re using a theme with this HTML layout, then you should be fine off the bat.
I’m still working on this, I’ll post an update when I know more. It’s out of my control right now.
In reply to: Digging the new homepage!I don’t really understand what you mean. You can create a static WordPress page and set that as the home page under “Settings > Reading”.
In reply to: Member directory doesn’t list all membersthat is 1 to 8 of 8 *active* members. That last user probably hasn’t logged in.
BuddyPress.org runs an old version of BuddyPress and bbPress because it hasn’t been upgraded. It will be upgraded to 1.2 very soon. The theme wasn’t released because you’d get copycat sites trying to confuse end users. It is also broken for new versions of BuddyPress.
I’m closing this because it’s not constructive.
In reply to: Randy Candy & Desktop – two new buddypress themes!Nice work diesellaws – be sure to check your themes with 1.2 when it’s released. Specifically the header.php files, as the header.php has changed in bp-default in the latest build.
In reply to: How to control spam registration?Another good option is to change your registration page slug.
In reply to: How to control spam registration?There is nothing protecting spammers from registering on testbp.org. I get some occasionally, but I nuke them with “mark as spam” as soon as they pop up. I found since with the new default theme spam has reduced significantly.
SI Captcha is a good spam prevention method. There really are a lot of options, but don’t search for “BuddyPress spam prevention”… this is not a BP issue, it’s a WordPress issue. You need to search for WordPress spam prevention instead.
In reply to: How to control spam registration?This is a problem with WPMU and spammers simply wanting to register spam blogs. I’ve not really seen the problem on standard WordPress, and with blog registration disabled.
In reply to: ‘Show Blog Posts’ activity stream not workingIf it’s not set to public then it’s considered hidden, otherwise the posts would be recorded in activity streams and crawled by search engines.
In reply to: ‘Show Blog Posts’ activity stream not workingMake sure the blog is set as public and can be indexed by search engines.
In reply to: 1.1.3 to 1.2 RC3 avatars missing, any fixThere was no change to avatar settings or upload location, so this shouldn’t happen. I haven’t seen this in my testing.
In reply to: BuddyPress doesn’t work with Yahoo Hosting?You need pretty permalinks enabled (mod_rewrite) otherwise it’s not going to work.
In reply to: Is growing memory a progress ?Just install opcode caching such as XCache or eAccelerator and your memory usage will plummet.
It’s all here: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/improving-performance/
In reply to: New install for testing: use WP or WPMU?If you don’t want user blogs then just use WP 2.9.1 and BP 1.2.
In reply to: siteurl vs. home – getting the blog domainIn the meantime you could filter the output of the functions you believe are a problem.
In reply to: siteurl vs. home – getting the blog domainPlease open a 1.3 milestone ticket for this.
In reply to: best way to updates rc2 to rc3??Just overwrite the buddypress folder.
In reply to: PHP Fatal error RC2 -> RC3Don’t install rc2, just install rc3 and that’s it.
In reply to: PHP Fatal error RC2 -> RC3You should not be copying or moving bp-default from the BuddyPress folder, so technically this sort of thing should never happen.
