thanks for the link, have just done what you suggested and contacted him..thanks
Buddypress is not a forum! Erm yes I know! I had to tweak things up, all topics get lumped together within the forums tab, I now have removed the forums tab as this is confusing. I now just have the groups displayed!
hmm now that’s a pretty good analogy, I really do like WordPress/Buddypress, I am just unable to structure the forums in buddypress in a true forum layout. At the moment it is a little confusing for my readers/members.
Hooray just got it to work! I just do not like the way topics are posted! At the moment all content from all the groups I have made go into one forum!! It would make so much more sense to have individual categoried forums!
Just wondering what is the point of having groups? It would be great if post topics could be kept in group forums, all content relative to the group kept in that forum!
It is difficult for people replying to post, when all content gets thrown together!!!! PHBBB really does look so much better!
But there again I am supposing I am expecting to much! WordPress/ Buddypress is a blogging software, not a forum one!
Well I did try and install bbpress, just got error message does not have a valid header!! Just wondering why is bbpress better than phpbb? bbpress looks a little spartan!
Hi socialpreneur, so you mean standard wordpress install, then install bbpress, then add buddypress!
OK thanks for the info, I will give it a try and see how I get on.
But with bbpress it is not possible to do file uploads, you know such as an image in a post! Or am I wrong, is this possible? Oh and another thing, it is possible to moderate new user sing ups etc. Again is this possible with bbpress ?
hmmm yep that maybe a good idea.
I did a fresh install of Buddypress, and mail is now showing in header bar. Now that sounds good, mail to remain until it is read. It gets my vote also.
Yes Andy but it is not visible when members first login (as in facebook).Buddypress you have to put mouse over my Account, Notifications tabs, and then search for new mail and notification, friends request etc. It would be great if new mail, friends request etc popped up, stood out in header bar, or maybe in the sidepanel etc.
Memebers would not otherwise be aware they had mail, or friends request..
Did this never get developed? It is a right pain at the moment, I have loads of spam registrations and people posting unsuitable content! Something like a Registration Approval system is very important, spam and abusive posters ruin many a good forum blog etc!
I would have thought something as important as this, would be high on the priority list of available options on buddypress! Or is there something already out there ?
The posts text and links were thrown out of lign onto the left of the page! I will probably just leave it as it is! Aghhhh spent many hours on it, had enough now.
Thanks anyway
Hi mercime, I did try what you suggested, it did hide the login but it broke up the theme! So not sure what else to try!
The above works a treat the fix did indeed remove the login from the sidebar, and I now have login with ajax running. I have just realised however there is another slight problem I have run into! I have the Buddypress admin bar hidden with the aid of a plugin. But doing this hides the My Account, My mesages, Friends, Profiles, Settings, and Notifications etc section!
Just wondering if it be easier to add a plugin to show notifications etc in side panel, except log in! Or just remove the log in section from the admin bar ?
HI r-a-y , thanks for the very speedy reply, I did what you suggested and it works brill. The log in now looks really clean and neat, thank you very much for your help.
