In reply to: BuddyPress-Links 0.3 FINAL is here at last
LOL I told you that was missing, but you kept saying I should change my Child theme blabla.. Anyways I keep repeating myself here; Awesome work MrMaz.. It’s going to be a very prominent feature on the new BP-Tricks site, and I can’t wait for the Pro version to make it even better.

Good work my man
In reply to: How to control spam registration?Looks cool, and I’ll try to test it asap!
Thanks for creating this, and I hope that you get the ajax stuff working
Maybe someone in the BuddyPress Dev. chat can help you out!
@michel: There’s also an easy solution to the member blog themes matching your regular theme. you can read a tutorial Andrea_r wrote about it on BP-Tricks.com. I’ll release the BP 1.2 member blog theme as soon as 1.2 launches. The forum thing is more complicated and if you want to do that right you need to invest in a programmer/designer
My experience with BP so far has been the complete opposite.. If you spend some time getting to know people and helping others out, before you know you’re part of the people you call “the insiders”.
I’m releasing a theme very soon, around 1.2 release. There will be a free version and a premium version. The premium version offers support and a bunch of cool extra’s and additional styles. When it’s done I’ll let you know
In reply to: Login section ideas & questionsSorry for the tripple post.. the correct logout redirection is:
<?php echo wp_logout_url(site_url() ); ?>In reply to: Login section ideas & questionsOw and you can solve the logout redirect like this:
http://themysite.com/wp-login.php?action=logout&redirect_to=http://mysite.com
In reply to: Login section ideas & questionsMike to solve your problem with the login direction thing.. I’ve solved that with some jquery stuff which opens the reset password dialog:
examples:
http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/firefox-6
http://emberapp.com/bowromir/images/firefox-7/
The code to display the reset password:
<h6>If you've forgotten your login details you can reset your password. Fill in your email or username and you'll receive an email with further instructions on how to reset your password.</h6><p></p>
<form name="lostpasswordform" id="lostpasswordform" action="<?php echo site_url('wp-login.php?action=lostpassword', 'login_post') ?>" method="post">
<p>
<label><?php _e('Username or E-mail:') ?><br />
<input type="text" name="user_login" id="user_login" class="loginpanel" value="<?php echo esc_attr($user_login); ?>" size="20" tabindex="10" /></label>
</p>
<?php do_action('lostpassword_form'); ?>
<p class="submit"><input type="submit" name="wp-submit" id="wp-submit" class="button-primary" value="<?php esc_attr_e('Get New Password'); ?>" tabindex="100" /></p>
</form>Another thing you could do for the time being is style the wp-login page with your own logo:
In reply to: Any Experience with JQuery Tools LibraryAbsolutely! I’m using it for an accordion widget in my soon to be released theme. I’ve also written a tutorial for creating a TOOLs powered welcome slider:
http://www.bp-tricks.com/design/creating-a-jquery-welcome-slider-for-your-buddypress-homepage/
It works great, causes no conflicts and it’s very lightweight. Be sure to include the js at the top your header btw, because other JS scripts might cause conflicts if they are loaded first.
If you make anything cool with it let me know
In reply to: [Poll] Which development tools do you useOnline browser testing is pretty annoying.. But I also don’t want to clutter my working machine with virtual windows.. anything windows related I want to keep away from my mac
.. But I agree it’s the best option, so I might install it in the near future to test!CSSEdit looks slick.. I’ll try to get a trial and check it out
In reply to: [Poll] Which development tools do you useOn a mac here but i use
Coda for xhtml/css
firebug + colorpicker plugin for FF for css tuning
forklift for ftp and folder syncing
mamp for the local server
dropbox + time machine for online and offline backup
adobe browserlab for browser testing
online w3 css/xhtml validation tool
I cant do much without these tools I love them all!
In reply to: facebook connect doesnt insert user informationyep! so far it works pretty darn well.. For certain social networks it imports photos and basic info.. I’ve integrated it with my custom login widget and so far I haven’t seen any major problems besides not storing the user his email, which makes receiving updates/notifications through email impossible… I need to think of a way to solve that problem..
In reply to: facebook connect doesnt insert user informationNo not really.. I’m currently testing the RPX plugin and that seems to work with Facebook, Twitter and all other major sites.. only problem it has is that it does not fetch the email adress.. That’s the closest i’ve gotten so far
maybe something funky occured in the settings >> general section and a wrong site url was filled in.. this causes bad permalinks.. you could also try to go to settings >> permalinks and mess around a bit.. weird problem
In reply to: GPL Question re upcoming plugin releaseI’m also pretty new to WordPress and did not know the history that surrounded Premium plugins and the conflicts which occured in the past. I’m used to paying for plugins/3rd party extensions for software so I was kinda suprised by how the WP community sees this. I’m still not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing, but it’s one of the things that makes WP special.. I haven’t felt more at home then in the BP community so it says something about the general atmosphere around here
In reply to: facebook connect doesnt insert user informationMake sure that you have the Connect URL correct in your application settings in Facebook.. go to My Applications in facebook then go to Edit Settings and then “Connect”. Then fill in your site url.. let me know if that works
In reply to: All users posting on the same blog. Is it possible?You don’t have to do anything.. Just install BuddyPress on a single WordPress install and all your users are contributors by default.. This means they can submit posts easily. You can make the process much easier by using a plugin like TD Midi Forms which allows your users to submit posts from the front end and even allow them to edit their own posts. A good tutorial:

Good luck
In reply to: Convert a WordPress Theme to a BuddyPress ThemeOne of the things I would like to cover on the new BP-Tricks site, is how to do this.. Maybe with a videotutorial or atleast a few written tuts. This will be a matter of time, don’t forget how much is changing everyday for BP, there are only a handfull of people who have done this
