In reply to: “WordPress Failure Notice” during group creation
Some additional information which might be helpful:
– It’s a BP child theme and my theme does not modify any of the group creation templates like groups/create.php
– Issue has not been reported before and I can’t reproduce it.I don’t really know where the nonce check failures could come from. Is there any specific aspect of a Child Theme that could cause this stop working? I’m not sure what the actual message means

Any help would be appreciated guys, we really want to fix this
In reply to: Event Solution Recommendations?@Travel-Junkie: that’s a great feature.. very promising!
@zkwc: Check out this post on how to setup forums as the default tab in groups: http://bp-tricks.com/featured/feature-forums-noticed/
In reply to: Activity stream shortcode?Check out this plugin on BuddyDev:
@xberserker: There are some problems with your plugin (which is awesome btw!).
You made a mistake when naming the folder or when calling the css/js files. When you install the plugin it tried to load the CSS and JS in the following path:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-activity-bar
While the actual path is
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-activity-stream-bar
Changing the folder name causes a php error
In reply to: Configuring W3 Total Cache with BuddyPressStarted with the guide for BP-Tricks.. but due to the nature of BuddyPress some stuff are bound to cause trouble.. like database and page caching
In reply to: 2 plugin ideas,Idea one is a good one. Idea two.. only in very specific cases. I think idea 1 should be created though

We (me and someone else BP experienced) are working on something that will do this, and a lot more.. We’re doing our best to get it finished early next year or so
In reply to: Link to users blog.I think placing the following code at the bottom of functions.php of your child theme should do the trick:
`
/* Creates Blog navigation for Accordeon Menu */
function my_blog_menu(){
global $bp;
if ( !is_user_logged_in() || !function_exists(‘bp_blogs_install’) )
return false;
//two lines from bp_adminbar_blogs_menu() in bp-core-adminbar.phpif ( !$blogs = wp_cache_get( ‘bp_blogs_of_user_’ . $bp->loggedin_user->id . ‘_inc_hidden’, ‘bp’ ) ) {
$blogs = bp_blogs_get_blogs_for_user( $bp->loggedin_user->id, true );
wp_cache_set( ‘bp_blogs_of_user_’ . $bp->loggedin_user->id . ‘_inc_hidden’, $blogs, ‘bp’ );
}if ( is_array( $blogs ) && (int)$blogs ) {
$blog=array_pop($blogs);//the first blog
?>
<a href="siteurl; ?>”>`
After you’ve put this in your functions.php add the following to sidebar.php to call the function:“`
Thanks to @sbrajesh for this snippet
In reply to: WPML.ORG / BP Multilingual Plugin Support@hackcafejapan: you make a great impression as a new member here on BP.org! Just spamming and shouting on 4 topics in a row. I think we all get your point now! You know what, I’ll start spending all my free time on creating something extremely complicated as a multilanguage solution for BuddyPress. Thanks for motivating me and many others by being so vocal and rude with your requirements. Please don’t think for any minute that you need to contribute anything else besides spamming and complaining.
I’ll keep you updated about my progress!
ps: I can’t write a single line of code so it might take a while.
In reply to: Another W3 Cache threadsorry guys, in the middle of other stuff I need to do first (client work urgh) but I hope to start with it on Sunday
In reply to: RSS FEED, list external contentHi guys,
Glad everyone is liking the plugin!
@pisanojm: it’s a forked plugin from Andy’s External Group Blogs, but it has been updated and modified by Marshall (@MrMaz). It will be added to the plugin repo, but we’re working on something else which will “compliment” this plugin, so we haven’t added it yet. Please leave your feature requests for this plugin in the comments section, so we can add them in the future.
This plugin we be extended upon for sure, we just have to finish some other (much cooler!) BuddyPress stuff first. So it might take a while, but the ideas proposed in this thread are certainly kept in mind for future updates
In reply to: RSS FEED, list external contentGlad you like it! What do you mean exactly with assigning a stream?
In reply to: [Resolved] Sidebars left and right in a fluid theme@pcwriter why don’t you just use percentages? If you have a fluid width and set the width of the negative margin-right and the content width.
For example:
div#sidebar {
width: 25%;
float: left;
}div.content {
float: right;
margin-right: 26%;
}The code above won’t work, but it’s to give you an idea!
@twig.. No I’m starting on it this weekend. Have been busing finishing up other stuff.. But it’s on the works

@twig you can disable commenting on forum topics and blog posts by going to your BuddyPress options in your admin panel
In reply to: True BP compatibility with Multisite@aweathers; this might help… http://bp-tricks.com/featured/new-theme-bp-default-member-blog-multisite-communties/. Not sure if you want this specifically, but it allows you to have matching themes across your blogs in your install.. you can’t run BuddyPress on them though..
In reply to: Facebook Connect Plugin stable@tubruk: Be sure to enable “BuddyPress compatibility” on the plugin settings page
In reply to: Facebook Connect Plugin stableWP-FB-Autoconnect is superb and works great! Check it out on BP-Tricks.com to see it in action
Glad you guys are looking forward to it! I’ll submit it to Codex if there’s a need for it, sure

Your pretty lucky because that’s exactly what I’ve been working on for BP-Tricks. I have one big tutorial I need to finished first, but then I’ll publish a pretty extensive tutorial about using W3 Total Cache and BuddyPress

What settings are you using? I’m using it on BP-Tricks but I’ve talked to Frederick (the plugin dev) on WordCamp and he basically told me that it’s a good idea to turn off page Caching and Database caching when you use BuddyPress and only use Object Caching, Minify and a CDN.
Thanks guys.. I’ve quite a few new Tricks coming up, some submitted by you

Also if you want to receive new plugins directly in your stream, just follow BPUpdates on BP-Tricks: http://bit.ly/bEN7om.
I also made a special Twitter account which let’s you know when a new tricks is published: http://www.twitter.com/bptricks. Finally we also have a RSS feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/bp-tricks
In reply to: [New Plugin]External Member BlogsMaybe @MrMaz can tell you something about the performance of the plugin in more detail, but the feeds are cached and only checked once an hour or on a direct profile visit. So far the plugin has been performing great, and I have not noticed any performance issues with it. It is a lot less heavy on resources as a dedicated RSS feed importer plugin for WordPress, that’s for sure.
You do have to remember that the posts are not stored anywhere other then the activity stream itself. You can filter the stream for external blog posts but it does not save it as a regular post or anything. Excluding them from the Stream would mean that the entries are not stored anywhere basically making the plugin useless

If you feature requests just leave a comment on the blogpost on BP-Tricks itself so we can keep track of them!
In reply to: [New Plugin]External Member BlogsNo problem! Hope you like it
