Brendan Rohan posted on the forum topic How to show notifications of replies to activity posts in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 4 months ago
(1) I think that replies should be a standard messaging feature alongside your inbox and @mentions – which would move @mentions from activity to messaging. (2) It would be cool if your replies had a filter called “conversations” where you could filter the various conversations you were having to stop the reply stream getting too […]

Also, in regards to bp being open source and therefore, free. That’s fantastic – I love that fact. But, despite this, I would still be quite happy to pay a subscription. Why? While I realize that I don’t have to pay for the software, I would like to pay for the skills of people who know more than I do about how to correct faults in my website like…[Read more]

Thanks JJJ. I was in no way having a go at you guys with my comments…
In the brief time that I have been on bp.org I have just noticed that ( maybe ) the “bp product” has now outgrown the earlier stages of it’s evolution and needs to changes gears. With the amount of members on this site, the project has well and truly outgrown the early phases…[Read more] -

@lincme.co.uk My comment is actually about the further development of the bp community. If the core team were receiving an income from all the work they put in, I’d be a lot happier. To have my questions fielded by volunteers doesn’t inspire me with security for the business I am setting up on a bp platform.
One of the issues I see here ( con…[Read more]-
As it is, WP & BP are powered by an open-source community. The core team from my understanding gets paid to make sure the core works for further development by the open-source community. At Vybee.com, we’re working on BP network building and support solutions for clients. We count on the open-source extendability of this community but also on our…[Read more]

I do agree that this site has kinda gotten more difficult to navigate.

@johnjamesjacoby Hi John, I saw you in the forums and wanted to ask you a question. It’s actually about the buddypress business model and has nothing to do with buddypress itself.
What IS the buddypress business model? What I mean is that I’m a customer of buddypress and not a coder – in short I don’t want to have anything to do with the code, I…[Read more]-
And here’s another good f’rinstance of this site failing users. Someone who hasn’t struggled through the morass before wouldn’t have a clue where @brendanrohan has posted this. In a forum? On his profile page? In a plugin review? On JJJ’s profile?
The questions of information overload, mixed-up design (BP and this site), etc., are not pushed too…[Read more]

BuddyPress itself has no business model or immediate revenue stream. It’s simply opensource software created from scratch to turn a WordPress powered site into a social network. Might sound strange, but that’s how it is.
BuddyPress.org currently serves a few purposes. You’re correct to say that it’s a very developer heavy website, because…[Read more]

I am having the same issue – which is a problem because I’m not a coder and I have a now-dead forum on a brand new site. It’s weird though because I can post… but none of my members can. Luchy for me they haven’t noticed yet as they aren’t that internet savvy… I have […]

Am getting an error message when subscribers are posting to the forums… The website is at http://www.my-kinesiologist.com/
It seems that I can post, but my subscriber members can’t – they just get the error message “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.”. Not sure why. One member who has editor rights on the site can’t post to groups oth…[Read more]
