    If you are running the latest trunk for everything then I don’t know what the problem could be. When that options is chosen in the home theme nav bar bp detects the /blog url and simply loads the template index.php in your document root.

    Cancel all that. You are running the home theme on a subdomain right? I just got that error when I activated the home theme on a subdomain.

    Ok, now I understand. Hmmm. Be back.

    I’ll tell you the current status. It’s not in trunk, it’s not in alpha testing and it’s not in beta testing.

    Before we go to far with this what menu are you talking about? The admin bar menu or the member/home theme’s button bar menu?

    I really don’t understand what you are trying to do. You want to create a new member theme?

    Member theme or home theme?

    What version of bp?

    The 404 error when trying to access the blog posts on the main blog is usually due to not using the most recent functions.php file in your theme. Make sure that your theme is using the functions in functions.php distributed with the bp home theme.

    benny this has nothing to do with bp itself. It’s a theme thing that is happening here only.

    If you are trying to edit your member profile and are getting some error about groups then something is very wrong. Since this is a custom member theme I can’t help because I have no idea what the code looks like. I can help you if you are having problems with the standard member theme.

    I\\\\\\\’m kinda confused by what you want and what you have done.

    If you want both the member theme and the theme that you use on your wp blog to be similar then the two themes that are distributed with bp will work. If you install a different wp blog theme then you\\\\\\\’ll either have to modify the wp blog theme or the member theme to match.

    The two themes are completely independent of each other.

    It sounds like you are allowing your users to create their own blogs and you\’ve allowed the bp home theme to be available to them. You can, but don\’t have to do that. If you install more wp themes and make them available then they can choose any theme they want. If you don\’t want blog admins to have access to the bp home theme then disable it in Site Admin > Themes.

    If you change the member theme then, yes, it applies to all users on your site. Users don\\\’t get to select their own member theme. It will be whatever you set it to.

    Howdy again. I dislike playing with css because I just don\\\’t understand it that well. I usually play for hours trying to get *one* thing done and most of the time stumble on the solution. css items inherit attributes from this and that object and get overridden two blocks away by something I didn\\\’t even know existed.

    There\\\’s more than one way to get to where I\\\’m going and the css I\\\’m looking at is doing things in some manner I\\\’m not familiar with. It\\\’s a black art as far as I\\\’m concerned and this humble programmer just ain\’t no artist.

    Michael, the recent blog post widget simply reports what it finds in each of the blog posts. If the post data is incorrect it will display incorrect data. bp records the fact that a new blog post was created. It stores the blog id and the post id. When the recent blog post widget displays the post it goes and gets whatever exists on blog id X for post id Y. It then echoes that information. It doesn’t change it in any way.

    If a plugin is creating bad data then the recent blog post widget will show bad data.

    You can import anything you want into a mysql table. The catch is that tables relate to each other. The profile fields you see are composed of three tables that interrelate. We’ve got profile groups, fields and field data. Groups are composed of Fields and Fields have Data. They are all linked to each other.

    What is the source data you are working with?

    The profile component has nothing to do with the menu bar. It probably has to do with your theme. I didn’t see any evidence of the menu bar at all on your site when I registered. You must have it turned off somehow.

    Your theme must be calling get_footer() twice since that is how the menu bar is triggered.

    Are you using the standard bp home theme? What version of bp? Works for me with IE7. I don’t think this is a bp issue.

    http://www.cssbasics.com/chapter_7_css_margins.html

    http://www.cssbasics.com/chapter_8_css_padding.html

    Margin or padding the left edge of the containing div for whatever widget you are interested in is the way to go probably. First install firebug to figure out what to alter and what the current settings are: http://getfirebug.com/

    That will tell you what you need to change and even allow you to interactively change css to try before you buy. You need to override the css in your theme\\\’s site-wide.css file. Create one in your theme\\\’s /theme/css directory. Create the \\\’css\\\’ directory if it doesn\\\’t exist.

    Example: move the site wide activity widget 3px to the right in the bp home theme if it\\\’s activated in the left-column.

    1) Create: /wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/css/site-wide.css

    2) Firebug says that the containing div is: \\\’buddypress-activity\\\’ and has the classes: \\\’widget\\\’ and \\\’bp_activity_widget_sitewide_activity\\\’

    3) In site-wide.css we override the default setting for class bp_activity_widget_sitewide_activity which is specific to this widget and firebug tells me that nothing is modifying this class yet. So we do:

    .bp_activity_widget_sitewide_activity{

    margin-left: 3px;

    }

    I should stick to programming. I really suck at css so that may cause your server to have a meltdown and your children to talk back to you. :)

    If you want all blog posts to show up on the main blog then you are looking for donncha’s sitewide tags plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/

    Your member’s individual blog pagination depends on the theme they are using. It’s the theme’s responsibility. Am I understanding you correctly about ‘member blogs page’? Maybe not.

    1) bp widgets are available to all blogs. There isn’t a way in bp to restrict blog admins from using whatever widget is available to them.

    2) The plugins that are located in /mu-plugins run on all blogs and don’t need activation by the site or blog admins. Plugins located in /plugins need to be activated on a blog by blog basis.

    3) The avatars are located in /wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/1/avatars/1 and should not be set to 777 but 755 and the apache user for your server must have write permission in that directory.

    *Nothing* that you have control over should have 777 settings on your server. It’s a security hole.

    Stupid people are the ones who don’t ask questions and live in ignorance. :)

    I haven\\\’t tried that plugin Kenneth. I do know that others have had success with the solution outlined in the forum topic above. It\\\’s just not the most elegant solution because bp doesn\\\’t have any hooks for blog creation right now. Gotta hack the theme.

    I thought I put in a ticket for a blog creation hook. Guess I didn\’t. I turned the red light on in this topic because I don’t have time to hunt down the best spot for a hook at the moment. I’ll lose track of this thread if it doesn’t stand out. Or somebody else could do it! (hint)

    The bbpress forum install isn’t part of the admin menu. You can put it there by modifying the menu though. I’m guessing that the second question means that you’d like your bbpress theme to look like your bp theme. Yes, you can. You have to create a new bbpress theme for yourself.

    You can find or create any theme you want for bp and bbpress. There isn’t a bbpress theme that looks like the default bp theme yet. As far as I know.

    Hmm. Where did that come from? Must be brand spanking new.

    I took a look at this issue and found that the wpmu functions such as get_blogs_of_user() return all blogs that a user has any capability in. That means that if I’m an author on some blog it reports back that blog also. The post i quoted above and the solution was for blogs *created* by a user. I couldn’t find any way other than looking in bp, which tracks blog creation and not just membership.

    wp doesn’t track blog creation, only blog capabilities. It couldn’t care less who created the blog. When sombody creates a blog they become an Administrator. The role Administrator doesn’t mean anything really. I can make somebody a blog admin and they never created the blog. bp tracks blog creation either through bp or wpmu.

    Not sure egerrits. Don’t know what the context is. Are you sure that is what is happening there? If those are single quotes in this chunk of code then $meta[‘field_{$custom_field_id}’] = ‘Hello World’; then that won’t work. The resolve as string operation ‘{}’ doesn’t work in single quoted strings. Only double quoted strings.

    profile.php is the wpmu profile page not the bp profile page. It shouldn’t be looking in the doc root for that anyway since it’s located in /wp-admin

    You seemed to have solved this issue since both of the links above work now.

    Looking at your site, it\\\’s hard for me to figure out what is bp and what isn\\\’t there. You\\\’ve got alot of custom going on. It\\\’s all custom. :) I\\\’m trying to determine how bp was installed.

    bp is installed in the subdir /blog? Exactly what version of bp are you using trunk or rc1? What do you mean by ‘when bp is activated’?
