You’ll have to install donncha’s sitewide tags plugin. It takes all blog posts from all blogs and puts them either on a ‘community’ blog that gets created for that purpose or you can have all blog posts go to the main blog.

I don’t know what rev of bp you were using before but things have changed in that rev. The member theme are now located in /wp-content/bp-themes. See the readme in the bp-themes dir in that zip. Make sure you update the themes also.

Ha! I knew it was a good idea. I do have one every once in awhile.

Any side effects of this we should know about Lance? What do you have to do different now that you didn’t before you had the faux translation?

Ya. Good call Lance. Were you upgrading from one ver to another in wpmu Produlz?

Never mind the question about date format. We don\’t get a choice. I need to know if the data is getting saved and not being displayed or just not getting saved. Can you take a look at the bp_xprofile_data table and see if there is anything in there for that date field?

The bp_xprofile_data table looks like this: id, field_id, user_id, value, last_updated. The field_id is basically the sequence you entered the fields in the backend. Starting at 1, you can prob count down the list and guess at the field_id. If you’ve done alot of arranging things with deletes and adds it might not be that simple.

field_id comes from another bp table called bp_xprofile_fields. If you browse that table with phpmyadmin you’ll see your date field. Whatever you called it will be in the ‘name’ column. The field_id you are looking for is the ‘id’ column in that table. Match that up with the field_id in the bp_xprofile_data table and tell me what that row says for that field_id.

You should have a number like: 1210392000 in the ‘value’ column. That’s a linux time number. What’s in that spot for your date field? Matter of fact, try changing and saving the profile data and then go look at the tables. What does phpmyadmin say for that row in the table?

The reason I suggested the translation route is that modifying the theme causes people to hesitate when upgrading. They don’t want to lose any custom they have. If I’m operating off a working copy of the svn trunk I can take my chances on an svn merge going ok. That it will skip my custom. However if my upgrade process is to replace the old code with the new code, just upload to the server, then I’m less likely to upgrade bp.

If it’s possible to achieve a solution without touching *any* code, I’m all for it. :)

This works fine for me and nobody else has had this problem. Exactly what does your mu install look like?

    Linux/Windows

    subdomain or subdirectory

wpmu installed in the root or a subdir

    shared hosting or dv

    ?

    @burtadsit

    Participant

Nope. Not yet. I\’m looking at it. That error occurs if wpmu can\’t find the \’siteurl\’ for the blog. Don\’t know why it can\’t yet. From what you described the blog isn\’t getting completely setup properly:

After putting bp back on, I signed in as to Site Admin and can see that the failed blog was created but there\’s a few fields missing when I check its properties – ie i noticed it\’s associated with the right user but the user has no role defined (and the drop down box is empty).

Ok people. Exactly what date format are you using? mm/dd/yyyy or what in that field?

If you haven\’t altered any of the profile filtering mechanisms then the js will get removed. It gets filtered out by the standard wp filters which get run on the profile fields. The profile fields don\’t show up in the wp backend. If you have a user trying to insert js into a profile field I would delete that user. Now.

What version of bp are you running? I see all sorts of filtering going on in trunk.

It seems that the directories have been removed from the home theme and they are now part of the member theme. That’s all I know at the moment from looking at the svn logs.

You can use any theme you’d like as a home theme. Are you talking about using the new prologue P2? That looks very cool.

I can’t find those two functions you mentioned anywhere in bp.

A new user gets the blog they signed up with or the main wp blog. The member theme is not a normal wp theme: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/using-the-buddypress-themes/

You don’t have to install the latest trunk to get it and take a look at it Phil.

    From the linux cmd line:

    svn co https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk

    From windows using http://tortisesvn.net

    https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk

    I dunno Mac.

You can just create a directory somplace and check out the files to that dir. Then you have a copy of the latest bp to play with.

Howdy, We\\\’ve got several ways of referring to a user:

    In code:

    1) The user id from the wp_users table.

    2) The users *login* username

    Pretty stuff that gets displayed:

    3) The user name that wp has for the user (Display name publicly as: in wp profile)

    4) The bp user\\\’s full name

bp uses the user id in most cases to refer to a user. Most of the core template tags take a user id as a parameter. The var $bp->loggedin_user->username doesn\\\’t exist. Nor does the var $bp->displayed_user->username. They aren\\\’t currently being set to anything.

I\\\’m kinda guessing you were shooting for the login username there. The global wp var $userdata->user_login and $current_user->user_login have what you want there.

One thing you have to be aware of is that the $bp->loggedin_user is available throughout bp no matter where you are. The var $bp->displayed_user is only available when the user is in the member theme.

Instead of using the vars directly it might be best to use the template tags in bp-core.php that are like bp_get_user<somthing>() or the template tags in bp-core-templatetags.php for some other user related items: bp_loggedinuser_<somthing>() functions. If things change in bp and the vars change then the wrapper functions just mentioned should shield you from rewriting code.

You can always as site admin disable all themes except the theme you want for your users. If you put that theme in the /themes/default folder it will be the default theme when new blogs are created.

I understand your reluctance to install a new version of bp on the day before a site demo. I see the issue you are talking about. Your ‘home’ tab highlight doesn’t turn off when you choose ‘about’. It does with the other tabs you have such as ‘blogs’ are selected. Whatever code you are using for those tabs in your theme should be used for ‘about’.

Since this is a custom theme you’re running it’s tough to help out.

lol. This turning off the lights when you leave the room campaign is catching on. We should give modemlooper a chance to do it himself. Practice makes perfect when it comes to habits.

    The answer is no.

There is no ‘uninstall routine’. This isn’t windows. :)

I wouldn’t touch the tables unless you know what you are doing. They aren’t going to hurt anything. It all depends on how you’ve installed and configured wpmu and bbpress. Delete the software for bbpress and call it a day.

You can upload an avatar image of your choosing either during the signup process or afterwards by going to your profile > change avatar. Did this change somehow and I haven’t noticed?
