    From what I can gather this thread is about a configuration problem. This is how to install the two themes.

    1) From the distribution zip or trunk move the folder /buddypress-theme/buddypress-home to the folder /wp-content/themes. You wind up with the structure /wp-content/themes/buddypress-home

    2) Move the folder /buddypress-theme/member-themes to the folder /wp-content. Ending up with the structure /wp-content/member-themes.

    If you want to use the bp home theme then you need to activate that in wpmu backend. You will never see the member theme as a possible candidate to activate.

    Nope not to my knowledge.

    johnjamesjacoby, another voice of experience.

    I wandered over to your portfolio. I may be the only person on the planet that actually reads footer tag lines. What exactly does this mean:

    ..[snip] ” who currently resides in Miami, FL but represents Milwaukee, WI.”

    Does Milwaukee know this? :)

    Andy I’ve already done this with realfam. See: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1018

    This is just a new thread for the same situation.

    Howdy, the boys and girls over at http://wpmued.org and their fearless leader http://wpmued.org/members/admin/ aka the Reverend, aka Jim Groom seem to be on the bleeding edge of this activity in education. Prowl around over there and ask Jim. He’s not afraid to tell you what his opinion is at all.

    Trent, aka trentadams, a moderator here, has experience in larger mu installs and bp configs.

    DJPaul, I just saw your comments about this on mu trac. Nice find!

    Nope. That function is the beginning of a series of things that happens. The function that actually send out the emails is: groups_notification_group_invites() in /mu-plugins/bp-groups/bp-groups-notifications.php

    Let me guess, you want to disable it there? Line 261 of that function is:

    wp_mail( $to, $subject, $message );

    Comment that out and no group invite email will ever leave your box.

    maxaud, the function that does the work in bp is groups_send_invites() and it lives in bp-groups.php, line 1642.

    function groups_send_invites( $group_obj ) {

    global $bp;

    This function serves both the group creation ‘send invites’ and the member theme ‘send invites’ in the group screen.

    I’d put a return; statement right under that global $bp; statement. Users can flip all the switches they want but nothing will actually happen. The users will still see the capability but nothing will work.

    Lemme test this to make sure…

    No notification emails are actually sent. The screen says it did but it didn’t. The notification message “Group invites sent” isn’t part of that function you will be bypassing.

    Looking at it now. What ver bp are you using? I can’t reproduce this.

    bp resides in /mu-plugins

    realfam, it has to be these two lines:

    remove_action( ‘wp_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’, 8 );

    remove_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’ );

    The bp menu bar has changed since you last looked at the code. I don’t think it will work without specifying a priority with the ‘8’. I don’t know when the priority thing snuck in. Probably sometime in the past week.

    I didn’t look at unhooking the css.

    Nope. Your problem you debug it. That’s the way you get better at this stuff. Growth in any endeavor is painful. Find the bug and kill it dead.

    Turn off all the ‘independent scripts that have nothing to do with signup’ and test. Then

    one by one put back the original files and test again. Start with the obvious one wp-signup.php. :)

    Smoke break.

    Where did you change these ‘cosmetic’ things. List the files you changed. You are running without *any* plugins at all right? If you have plugins activated or in mu-plugins other than bp remove and/or deactivate them. Try again.

    Both bp and mu have changed radically since the versions you mentioned. I have no way of knowing what conflict is causing the problem. Start by turning of all your mods and turn them on one by one. When the problem crops up the last mod is the culprit.

    Whatever mods you have in there is causing the problem.

    @burtadsit

    Was that the theme you modified? If so what were the modifications?

    @burtadsit

    We need to narrow this down further. Make a copy of the custom theme you’ve created. Save it someplace. Wipe the directory /wp-content/themes/home. That’s where the theme labeled “WordPress mu Homepage” is located. I’m guessing you modified that one. Upload a fresh copy of that directory to the server. No mods nothing. Right out of the download zip. Activate that theme and then see if you get the error.

    Lets start from scratch here. Do you have the x-profile tables in you db? You should have:

    (tableprefix_)bp_xprofile_groups

    (tableprefix_)bp_xprofile_fields

    (tableprefix_)bp_xprofile_data

    Where (tableprefix_) is set to something like ‘wp_’ depending on how you specified it on wpmu install.

    When you look at the tables with phpMyAdmin is there any data in the bp_xprofile_groups table? There should be 1 record in there on a clean install. id == 1 and name == ‘Basic’.

    In the table bp_xprofile_fields there should be 1 record it should have id == 1, group_id == 1 and name == ‘Full Name’.

    If you don’t have all the above you will get the error you describe. If you don’t have all of that then the required tables for bp are not being created and populated properly.

    Gotta fill in all the required fields for group creation.

    Howdy maxaud. Sorry took so long to reply here. Been busy getting a bp plugin ready for the 1.0 release.

    I’ll go look at these issues.
