In reply to: user control – block and ban
Group admins can kick/ban and promote members of their groups. User blocking isn’t part of bp yet.
In reply to: blogs.dir folder controlThis is really a site admin and hosting issue and not a bp related issue.
In reply to: Several widgets disappear when .mo file installedHowdy. I’m not sure why there is a problem. Here’s what I think is happening.
register_sidebar_widget( __(‘Members’, ‘buddypress’), ‘bp_core_widget_members’);
That registers the members widget with translation. If in your .mo and .po file the word “Members” is translated then it should work fine. This is what you are doing?
In reply to: bp-admin-bar: Random Blog problemLooking at the random blogs problem now. Don’t know about the translation question. I’ll have to investigate that.
OK. Random blog question is actually a bug. Ticket and patch for the fix is: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/445
I understand your admin bar language question but can’t decide if it’s a bug or an enhancement. I’ll post it as a bug and it will get noticed that way. Andy can decide if it’s more along the lines of an enhancement by changing it’s status.
I know. I’m being lazy by delegating the issue upward.
In reply to: Make BuddyPress Skin Go Edge To Edge?Yes. Many people know how to do this. We learned by hunting down the appropriate css entities and modifying them. I did it by first of all getting the wildly wonderful firebug extension for firefox.
Firebug told me the exact file and line to modify. It even let me change the css interactively on a live web page. Try before I buy. Very cool.
This time around firebug told me that the bp home theme css padding entry for the content area lives in:
/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/css/base.css
Change line number 121: padding: 0 20px; to padding: 0;
In reply to: Top nav bar not showingIf you’re happy, I’m happy.
In reply to: is proudly powered by WordPress MU and BuddyPress?I think I’m gonna rename this thread “The perils of not giving credit where credit is due”
Next contributor please.
In reply to: BuddyPress and Site wide tags pluginSitewide tags is up and running with bp. No problems encountered so far.
In reply to: Top nav bar not showingHowdy. Looks like your theme is not calling wp_footer(). That’s where the menu bar is hooked up. You are getting the css which reserves a spot for it at the top of the theme page but not the menu itself.
<?php wp_footer(); ?>
</body>
</html>
Like that in your footer.php
I don’t really like the economic model that wpmudev.org uses. It encourages a ‘rape and pillage’ type of attitude. Pay your $ for a month of access and take everything worth taking. See ya. Got what I want.
I don’t have a moral issue with making money from support or custom coding. I want whoever it is that owns that site to make money. It’s the month of access part I have problems with. It encourages bad behavior.
Premium $ for that? It’s 5 lines of code.
Probably lots of bells and whistles with the premium plugin.
XMLRPC interface to your iphone. Plays a song. Washes the dishes. Babysits the kids. Detection routine for site admin ‘crankyness’ level.
In reply to: Posts go to Profile/Login pageNot looking at this any more.
In reply to: Posts go to Profile/Login pageLooking at this now.
In reply to: remove admin-barIn bp-core-adminbar.php are the two hooks:
add_action( ‘wp_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’, 8 );
add_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’ );
These fire up the admin bar. If you want to remove it just put the following in your bp-custom.php file:
remove_action( ‘wp_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’, 8 );
remove_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’ );
You’ll have to wrap those two calls in some logic of your own creation to decide when to not display the admin bar.
In reply to: Port other than 80?You might try the wpmu forums. Lost of trusty brains there. https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/
Yep. If you disable the back end they won’t be able to change the password. You want to disable it completely? How are people going to write blog posts?
Anyway, the password on signup is more than I have time for now. There is a premium plugin available on wpmudev.org http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/set-password-on-wordpress-mu-blog-creation that does what you want. I don’t know if it works with bp or not.
In reply to: Group Avatar IssueUpdate to the most recent trunk. There was a bug in the group avatar upload directory area.
p.s. I enjoy the architectural style of your school.
In reply to: Navigation buttons – Where are they?– header.php in both the home and member theme dirs bp_nav_items() > bp-core-templatetags.php function bp_nav_items()
Phunky, ya that $user param isn’t just a user id. It’s the massive wp user object.
$user->all_about_this_person_and_then_some
scotm, preferred way? I don’t know about that guy. It’s a solution to a specific problem. I don’t dev preferred solutions to bp. Not my job man.
In reply to: BuddyPress Showoff: Post your linksWow maxaud. That’s a really nice bp skin, integration, overhaul. I do believe you are the largest bp site I’ve seen. Congrats. That took a lot of work.
You need to make it an actual executable php file by putting <?php at the top and ?> at the bottom of the file.
In reply to: is proudly powered by WordPress MU and BuddyPress?You can at your peril. There is a secret open source software credit detection routine built into both products. The license doesn’t explicitly say you have to keep it there. However I’ve heard of horrible things happening if you remove it. Open source programmers are very self centered, introverted and vindictive people.
Danger Will Robinson.
Howdy. The ’10’ is the priority of the filter (normal) and ‘3’ is the number of arguments the oci_login_redirect() function takes.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API#Filters
If you take a look at the apply_filters() call that is in wp-login.php it sends along 3 params. The second param is not so obvious:
isset( $_REQUEST['redirect_to'] ) ? $_REQUEST['redirect_to'] : ''Read it as:
‘if the redirect_to is set to something then use that as the 2nd param and if it isn’t set then pass along nothing as the 2nd param’.
Just in case we want to do something fancy in the filter that has to do with where the redirection was supposed to go in the first place.
In reply to: Easy way to Expand Wire posts beyond 6?It’s hard coded in several different places in the code. There isn’t any one spot to just plug in a new number. If you really need to do it, they all seem to be in bp-wire-templatetags.php. That was just a quick look to see what was going on. It may be elsewhere also.
You’ll have to change all the pagination code to reflect a new number. Personally speaking, I’d just live with it for now. You could always post an enhancement ticket in trac and slip Andy some hockey tickets.
