In reply to: headers already sent error in ajax.php
Download a new ajax.php file corresponding to your BP version from the trac.
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser?order=name#tagsYou probably have some whitespace somewhere.
In reply to: From Latin1 to UFT8 – Issues@James
I don’t realy know what is your problem. What i can s&y is that my DB has the following settings
language: french
DB caracters table: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
DB settings utf8_general_ciIf you need to use octals to translate some javascript messages, use them in your xx_XX.po file or create another xx-XX..po to translate your specific messages.
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/translations/What you said here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-localization-issues/ let me think you have troubles because you use 3 different languages.
I would recommand you to test first with one language. When this works correctly, try separatly with the others. After that it would be probably better for you to use a multilingual plugin like WPML and buddypress multilingual.
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-multilingual/It’s also important for you to check all the js files, because most of them are not localized. You can do this manually from within a child theme.
Normally your visitors has nothing to do with updates. And they have nothing to care about octals. In reply to: From Latin1 to UFT8 – IssuesInstead of html entities for your accentuated caracters (& ea cute ; for é ) used in your buddypress-xx_XX.po language file, use octals for any message displayed by javascripts !
http://www.pjb.com.au/comp/diacritics.htmlProbably not the exact answer, but this could help you (it’s in french but php is in english)
http://imath.owni.fr/2010/11/08/bp-forum-et-code-source/Personnaly i use this and it’s working:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/syntax-highlighter/In reply to: How do you do this ?@Boone Gorges That is what i done first ! But helas, it doesn’t work: i had a blank page.
And that is why i asked here…. but if you can give me the command syntax for that function_exists for bp_dtheme_blog_comments (i didn’t find it in WP or BP), i would appreciate !
Don’t hardcode the BP files, use child theme to make changes
The POT file is the catalogue. You have nothing to change in it.
The PO file is the work file
The MO file contains the PO compilated datas who will be read by WPIf you want to modify BP messages or different text, you have to edit a PO (without T) file. Use poEdit (or equivalent)
When you save the file, poEdit creates automaticaly a compilated mo file Your modification will be in this file, and this file had to be in the right folder on your site !Also, if you use BP 1.2.8, your buddypress-xx_XX.mo should be in wp-content/languages folder, no more in buddypress/bp-languages
In reply to: How do you do this ?@Boone Gorges : great, thank you !
This should be documented somewhere in the BP doci only found this:
bp_dtheme_blog_comments( $comment, $args, $depth ) X-Ref
Template for comments and pingbacks.
To override this walker in a child theme without modifying the comments template
simply create your own bp_dtheme_blog_comments(), and that function will be used instead.
Used as a callback by wp_list_comments() for displaying the comments.param: mixed $comment Comment record from database
param: array $args Arguments from wp_list_comments() call
param: int $depth Comment nesting levelThis tells we can do something not how we can do that. You give the right answer

Blog comments ?
See here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/comment_timeTo do this, If you use BP 1.2.8, go to bp-themes/bp-default/functions.php or better to the functions.php of your child theme
In file there is a function bp_dtheme_blog_comments
Near line 78 change
`to this
<a href="” rel=”nofollow”>
<a href="#comment-” title=””>`
how to embed this function into your theme’s function ? read here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-do-you-do-this/In reply to: [Resolved] Locating comments.php for edittingBy default, there is no cache system. It’s not possible that the output doesn’t change….except if your changes are not saved.
Work on local ! Do the text change in comments.php of your child theme and upload it via FTP
Refresh your browser history (ctrl+F5) and see if the change is done.If you use BP 1.2.8, go to bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags.php
at line 647 is function bp_activity_recurse_comments
with a if statement if ( is_user_logged_in() )
in which is the word “reply”rewrite this function to retrieve the word and put it in the functions.php file of your theme
This is a solution, but probably they are others

Check your install with the help of “forum settings”

note that comments.php is the only file where this line exist.

In reply to: WordPress 3.1@zkwc apologize, you’re right, bp-album is showing up but doesn’t load any image.
i just discovered this tread to understand what is happening:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/topic/unable-to-upload/In reply to: WordPress 3.1OK updating WP and BP was a bit awfull this time.
but i want to say that a standard BP multisite works correctly AFTER these updates. http://bp-fr.netMany WP plugins don’t work from now on ?
i would say it’s more than time that some old bad coded stuff is now out of the sky. I hope that the the plugin repo will be cleaned promptly. If you encounter some problems after uptade, here is a good starting point:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-31-master-list@skwc the bp-album plugin works. I still have 0.1.8 and it works well: http://bp-fr.net/members/admin/album/pictures/
To sort by date in the userlist, simply click on the date col. You can do the same to sort by all the other columns. And you can click again to sort back or forward.
This change is not idiotic !
This change is logic beacause users have names and names are generally sorted alphabetically.
Understand also that this list works like a DB table, and as is, such a table is usally sorted by id’s. Unfortunately, numbers are rarely comprehensive to human admins. Names are !Most people don’t like changes because they don’t like being changed. Reality or perception ? You have to decide….

you can download some version of translation on the buddypress i18n trac:

or on the buddypress trac:
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser?order=name#tags
there are only 3 strings diffs between 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 pot, so it’s not very important at this time if you miss somethingIf you want to work with pot files, you have to pick in the tagged version, not in the trunk (except for your private tests of course)
bp-custom must be created first by yourself to exist !
