Oh yes, why’s the Facebook login button missing from the home page? It looks like you’re not showing the top login/facebook thing on the home page on purpose. I’d leave it up there. Nothing wrong with having 2 places people can log into the site on the home page.

Nice looking site. Has a fresh feel to it. I like it. A few simple comments. On the main page the “Lost your pasword” and “register” links are so close together they look like one. Seems like you’d want to drive registration, but as is I don’t think they’ll see that link at all. The […]

Ok, so they do have APIs. This is definitely the better way to go. Hotmail: http://dev.live.com/contacts/ Gmail: http://googledataapis.blogspot.com/2008/03/3-2-1-contact-api-has-landed.html Yahoo: http://developer.yahoo.com/social/contacts/ , http://developer.yahoo.com/addressbook/ Then, of course Facebook and Twitter have an API as well. Now the…[Read more]

The problem is that I don’t think Hotmail and Yahoo have API’s, do they? If they did, I might consider outsourcing the development of it. Not good to have an email address importer and not cover those 2 email apps.

Reminds me of: http://www.bigdoor.com/ They even just lowered their price and offered 90 days free to try it out.
Although, I just still can’t get over the API payment when Achievements gets pretty close and it’s open source.

Or look at other plugins that create notifications and learn from their code. Maybe the follower plugin could be one example that I think does an admin bar notification.

@travel-junkie
I think you’re right from what I can tell. Although, that’s why each one is broke into individual plugins which they update as things change.FB ban is a possibility, but would depend on growth. The interesting thing is that it’s what they do for the other email accounts. They invented it.

I’ve started down the road of integrating Open Inviter with Invite Anyone. I’ve got it working on a test web page. Seems like it will be easy enough to integrate. I agree the challenge of verifying who is a member already is interesting, but important and doable. The challenge I just realized is that this […]

I’m thinking that most of it should be compatible. It might bypass some of the hooks needed if he hooks into the activation hooks. However, for the most part it shouldn’t be a problem I don’t think. Although, it’s an interesting question since I found Welcome Pack to not work either:…[Read more]

@svenl77
So, we should just upload the new plugin. Disable the old plugin. Enable the new plugin and the settings should transfer fine? We just might need to check for some new settings? -

You can just disable groups in the BP configuration page. Only problem is that right now, Groups are needed to create forums since forums are tied to each group. The workaround for this is to do a stand alone BBpress forum install. Do a search on the forums and there are a lot of forum […]

Right now there’s no really easy way to modify the registration process that way. it’s possible if you know PHP (Boone’s done something close to it), but it’s not very easy right now. Or if you don’t code and have some cash, you could pay a developer to add this feature for you.

techguy posted on the forum topic Buddypress.org avatar change – Error in the group Requests & Feedback: 14 years, 1 month ago
This is a known problem. The workaround for now is to upload it to http://en.gravatar.com/ Just do it for the email address that you used to register on BP.org and your avatar will be changed to whatever you upload to Gravatar.
