It’s pretty hard to change those sub-navigation slugs (“inbox”, “sentbox”, etc), they are currently hardcoded everything, unfortunately.

Contribute to the translation on https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/buddypress/dev and then, eventually, your WordPress will download the updated translation automatically. 🙂

Front page is also 2.4MB, uncached.

Shouldn’t be a problem.

What browser are you using this with? Did the browser actually load all the scripts? It looks like the “atwho” script hasn’t loaded.

wp_icl_strings is used by WPML, and I think this error might be being caused using https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-multilingual/. You need to contact the author of that plugin on the WordPress.org plugins support forum:

Thanks @gatera! It might just be reflecting a problem in the other plugin, but I’ve created a bug report for BuddyPress and we’ll look into it sometime to see if it’s our fault or if there’s something we could be doing better. Thanks for letting us know:

Not sure where you got Christmas from, but we’re aiming for 2.2 to be released on 28 Jan 2015. 🙂

If you mean “comments” as in “comments on a blog post”, that’s obviously part of WordPress. That will definitely scale fine.

If you meant “comments or replies on activity stream items, or status updates”, that’s BuddyPress. This should scale just fine, too.

Ok if you disable however you are loading the translation – that might be deactivating WPML – so that everything goes back to the default English, do the tabs work?

Sorry to hear that you’ve had a bad first experience with BuddyPress. We’re always working to make it better.

I assume you are using a .mo translation file – are you?. If you remove it (so it goes back to English), does the problem still remain?

It ought to be fine, and no doubt you’ll be able to keep an eye on how things are performing as the level of activity on your site scales up.

Sounds like an interesting problem. Do regular blog posts publish and display their dates correctly? Have you had problems with scheduled blog posts on this site?
