Slow page loads could be caused by many things. I’d start by asking your web host for initial support, and if they have any observations on what exactly is slow.

Take a peek in your web server’s PHP error log, and tell us what the errors was. It should be fairly obvious if you read through the message where the problem was coming from.

Are you able to upload images through the WordPress media library?

Best to ask on bbPress.org. bbPress is the component that provides forums to BuddyPress.

We didn’t change anything with regards to loading translations in BP 1.7-1.7.2, so something else on your site must have changed.

I don’t think this is true, especially since the 1.5+ releases. BuddyPress is rock-solid nowadays.

This sounds like something you’d have to build. You’re not syncing WP profile data with BP profile data, but another plugin’s profile data with BP.

BuddyPress redirects away from this page on purpose. It shouldn’t redirect to the home page, however.

In wp-admin, in Settings > BuddyPress, on the “Pages” tab, what page have you got the “Register” component mapped to?

You can probably set up a CNAME on your DNS to do this — best idea is to ask your host for assistance with this.

Unfortunately BuddyPress’ activity stream is pretty much a “write once, never update” thing right now.

Activity component doesn’t support anonymous comments or behaviour; it wasn’t built with that in mind. Per Juan’s suggestion above, you could create a fake user account and write code to assign comments to that user, but… sounds hacky 🙂
