In reply to: Errors showing bp core ?
What version of WordPress, BuddyPress, are you using?
What theme, and what other plugins do you have active?
In reply to: Register LABELAh, what’s the profile field type for that? Is it a date field type or a “Birthday” field type?
Are you using the https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/ plugin ?
In reply to: Activate BuddyPress components programmatically@schweizersolutions With your current solution:
1) If BuddyPress is loaded in this context, I’d strongly recommend you use
bp_update_optioninstead ofupdate_optionas this supports all the different configurations of BuddyPress install/configuration.2) If you look at
bp_version_updaterorbp_core_admin_components_settings_handlerfor example, it does what you’re doing, but it runs the installation routines afterwards. I’d recommend you copy the logic frombp_core_admin_components_settings_handler.3) An alternate approach is to filter the
bp_new_install_default_componentsarray as long as you can put that in place before BuddyPress loads.4) I think
activated_pluginmight be too early, i.e. before BuddyPress installs. I am not sure, I can’t test right now. BuddyPress’ core routines start fromplugins_loaded, and I think that’ll have already be triggered beforeactivated_plugin, so the behaviour will be undefined (i.e. it might install on the next page load, or part-install immediately, and I have no idea if this will break stuff).Hope this helps
Can you take a screenshot of what you mean, please?
In reply to: first_name & last_name automatically alteredBuddyPress will try to sync the value of a user’s “Name” field to the First and Last Name fields in their wp-admin user profile.
To disable this, go to wp-admin Settings > BuddyPress, and disable Profile Syncing.
In reply to: W3 Total CacheThe Object Cache feature inside W3TC is not compatible with BuddyPress. It does not work properly.
In reply to: wp-engine and group activity autorefresh issueCan we get a link to your site please?
In reply to: Can’t seem to work on Yoast SEO pluginIt’s quite probable it just won’t work. BuddyPress intentionally interferes with the page that WordPress thinks its loading (when it’s a BuddyPress URL), and I suspect Yoast SEO will look at this page object, and because we’ve messed with it and because it doesn’t map to a real WordPress Page, it won’t work.
Sorry!
Cool!
In reply to: Redirect does not workWelcome Pack! Small world.
Can you try disabling Welcome Pack? That certainly interferes with user registration.
Please also try disabling iThemes Security. Then, test registration again, and see what happens.
If it still doesn’t work as expected, if you can switch your theme to one of the default WordPress themes (leaving those two plugins disabled), test again. If you have a test environment (say you might be using Pantheon hosting, for example), this should be easy to do, though if it’s only one server, I appreciate you might not want to modify your production site too much.
Great!
In reply to: Redirect does not workIt should work like that by default. What plugins do you have running, what theme are you using, and what other code customisations might you have made?
In reply to: Redirect does not work@fail2reap So… after the user sends the registration form, rather than go to the page that says something like “check your email for an activation link”, you want to redirect them somewhere else?
In reply to: Select field in FirefoxI’m afraid I still can’t recreate this. I may be misunderstanding it wrong.
Let’s wait for someone else to come along and try to reproduce the problem.
In reply to: Creating User Class Systems Out/Inside BuddypressOur user details and activity goes into a massive database; however I donβt want this to be impacted by the forum users
If this is absolutely non-negotiable (don’t share the database), you are going to almost certainly have to set up a separate WordPress site, just for your community.
There is one users table in the database, provided by WordPress, and as BuddyPress is a plugin that runs on top of WordPress, we also use that users database table.
If you don’t want new community users mixed up with existing users, you need to put the community stuff on a separate WordPress. Or, write code to filter and customise various lists of users as/when/if you need. BuddyPress Member Types might help.
In reply to: role field in register formIn reply to: bp issues please helpI have heard this report a few times but I have never seen enough detail to figure it out. Often, it goes away when someone creates a page for “activation”, but that has apparently already been done here.
Let me know if you figure anything interesting @danbp π
In reply to: Register LABEL@damndramaqueen Can you take a screenshot?
Are you testing this with Firefox? If so, try another browser. Let me know.
In reply to: Front-End PublishingThis is a better question for somewhere on the WordPress.org forums. More people over there, and this isn’t specific to BuddyPress. π
Do other BuddyPress emails get sent?
Do WordPress emails get sent? (comment notification, new user registration, etc).In reply to: Order users by xProfile field value in WP backendAnything’s possible, but the reason it’s not by done by default in the UI is that the field value in the database is a LONGTEXT field and is not indexed. This means a slow DB query if we wrote one, and a site of your scale, you’d notice the (lack of) performance.
It sounds like you’re trying to set member type in bulk, and you were hoping to use the ordering here to let you bulk-select to speed it up. I’d write a utility function to do this, or a WP-CLI command.
If I gave you a start, do you know how to write PHP (well enough) to test and debug it?
In reply to: How to get custom text before xprofile field outputSomething like this, maybe? Not tested.

In reply to: How to properly set bcc in all emails?Yes, ^ that should work.
In reply to: Select field in FirefoxI’ve set up both types of select box:
Chrome: https://cloudup.com/cazMTZWXnwr
Firefox: https://cloudup.com/cCPPDjoZTKjI see the description with both for both types of field. I don’t understand or see a problem. I think this issue is probably specific to your site, you can probably fix it with some custom CSS.
In reply to: activation email not sending after update to 2.6.2You did not say what version you update from, but when the emails were improved in v2.5, there was a bug with exactly this that hit some people – but not everyone – which we fixed in a minor release.
First, go to wp-admin Tools > BuddyPress, and run the re-install email tool. This will delete the terms and the posts, and recreate them.
