In reply to: Disable Avatar Crop
There is not a built in way to disable the cropping part, no. Interested to find out why you seem to want to allow avatar uploads but not let people size them?
In reply to: Possible BUG FIX (Needs Trac?)Now fixed in trunk for BP 2.0. Thanks for the report and the fix, @glyndavidson
In reply to: BuddyPress 2014 SurveyYep, likewise. Not sure when we’re going to close the survey — maybe the end of the month, but we should have some preliminary data available to help plan BuddyPress 2.0 at next week’s dev chat.
In reply to: Pagination on buddypress.orgNow fixed. Changes should be visible soon.
In reply to: Pagination on buddypress.orgPlease report this as a bug on buddypress.trac.wordpress.org. Thanks.
In reply to: Pagination on buddypress.orgBug reports for BuddyPress.org itself should also be reported on buddypress.trac.wordpress.org, please.
In reply to: Members not displaying!Ah hah 🙂
Glad you fixed it.
In reply to: [Resolved] Timestamps in members timezoneI like this idea. It would make a fab plugin if someone can package it up well.
I’m not sure BP core needs a timezone field by default, but if we can do anything to make filtering/re-calculating the dates easier (e.g. add a filter, or so), don’t hesitate to ask! Create an enhancement request on https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org and I’ll get it into BP 2.0
In reply to: HTML Tags not working in CommentsGoing to close this topic as you’ve found a solution over at WordPress.org.
In reply to: Blog comment does not apeare in activity streamWhat was the solution?
In reply to: Group Fun and GamesI haven’t any good suggestions for your search for a good groups plugin, but if you do use Achievements (I’m the author), please leave me a review and some feedback on that WordPress.org page — thanks 🙂
In reply to: Upgrading jQuery to 2XBuddyPress uses the version of jQuery that comes with WordPress. You’re best to search for how to make WordPress do this change, then BuddyPress will use it.
In reply to: Beware of the 1.9 update!Closing topic. Alarmist posts’ don’t help anyone.
Is your site online?
In reply to: cant create new topic (and) reply> Without joining a group, can you post under that group on BuddyPress ? Is there any chance of it ?
If a group is public, you can post, but it’ll also automatically join the user to that group when they make that post. I don’t think there’s a way of mixing group permissions with posting permissions.
What type of group did you make? Public, private, hidden?
In reply to: User “Active for 43 years and 12 months”This is pretty close to the unix epoch date, which makes me suggest the ‘last activity’ timestamp isn’t being recorded correctly for that user. @ceric, if you log in as that user and click around a few pages, does it fix the display?
In reply to: Page layout and sidebar issuesI’m sure someone will be along with some more helpful advice, but for a quick reply — this is to be expected. BuddyPress is working as it currently is meant to, and ignores any of the theme options around page customisations.
In reply to: Fatal Error – BuddyPress@darkyan How did you fix it?
In reply to: Error: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepareYou should have gotten a filename or line number along with the error message. I’m interested if it’s in a core BP file, or in another plugin, like Henry says.
In reply to: Guys….. What is the point of including filters if…I figured you were referring to the Activity table 🙂
Basically, we thought the way we do it now was a good solution several years ago. We were particularly concerned with how large the Activities DB table(s) might get, as we expect them (and probably still do) to be the tables with the largest amount of stored data as every other component adds stuff to the activity stream. If I remember correctly, the idea was that storing the entire string would be the quickest approach — and with the state of BuddyPress’ code base all those years ago, it was probably the right decision.
Several years later, the shortcomings are now fairly obvious — can’t filter it easily, if you change how the string is constructed – only new items have that new format, the old items keep their old format, can’t translate it very easily.
This is likely to be changed in a near-future release to a more dynamically constructed string of text, and the ticket @modemlooper linked to is a good place to keep an eye out if you’d like to help us build it.
In reply to: cant translate timestampHi. Which theme are you using, what versions of WordPress and BuddyPress are you using, and where did you download the translation file from? Thanks.
In reply to: Bulk edit xprofile fieldNo direct way of bulk-editing profile fields; sounds dangerously powerful. If you are a PHP/WordPress developer, or know someone who is, I’d suggest writing a script to make these changes for you.
In reply to: registrationDepends on where you want your users to upload images. It sounds like you want a user gallery kind of feature?
In reply to: Guys….. What is the point of including filters if…everything is stored in the database as static HTML
Wrong. What specifically are you looking at? The Activity table?
