I finally got around to testing and it still displays above the profile header. Is there a particular way the last code snippet should be combined with the last one?

Thanks for all your help still working on the process of getting the display above the header removed but I haven’t had time to test or reach out to the plug-in developer.

Hey thanks so much appreciate the help. I will let you know. Does this go in the functions files right? I ask because there is a header php file in my child theme as well. Also wondered about the BP custom file.

It didn’t change the location of the stories it stayed above the header. Here is the documentation for the filter.

There is an old plug-in to set a default cover image. I have it running without any problem on the current WP & BP

As someone who started building a community site with BP moved away to use another tool then returned, I am watching this development process with equal parts eagerness and trepidation.

My trepidation comes from the influence of some plug-in developers who sm to be less inclined to support development of a robust BP core in favor of building plugins to sell to extend BP functions.

I have bought and used several external plug-ins and it seems the most efficient way to generate more usage and adoption of BP is to build the essentials for a good community site into the core rather than requiring external plugins.

Case in point BP attachments. Photo/document sharing is an essential element of any modern community site. The alternatives are either overpriced sporadically developed, inefficient or don’t integrate well with BP because they were originally designed for WP general use not a community. Yet adoption of BP attachments suffers from lack of adoptions and best as I understand a limited development team.

I really want to see BP and BP attachments succeed and I was a programmer in the current web development languages I would volunteer. Sadly I can only share a user perspective encourage the developers and volunteer to test. BP is still the best option in my book for building a community site in WP. I have tried all the alternatives and I mean all and I still come to that conclusion.

Having just installed the Activitypub plug-in I hope as the next version of BuddyPress is being developed some consideration is given to added hooks to connect BuddyPress to ActivityPub. It seems to me this would catapult BuddyPress firmly into the future of social media and social internet community.

The update has a bug which causes registration page 404 error or redirect to login page. I re-saved permalinks but not change.

    Here is a free option

Have not used it but used their BP plugins bundle in the past but some of their plugins have become bloated lately IMO. Just a heads up.

Was having the same problem on a recent install of Buddypress troubleshooting led me to disable the lazy loading of iframe and video and that solved the problem with the activity update boxes not working

I understand that responsiveness in terms of themes screen displays and the speed of page loads with AMP are different. However they are both about enhanced user experience on mobile devices right? I use the AMP plugin you link on another of my WP sites which is what prompted the question about the value for my BP site.

Since so much of a user experience in BP is dynamically generated I am just wondering how useful AMP is in that context. Particularly since as you point out it isn’t built into WP core so it means adding another plugin. We are still in the early day yet and early adopters share different results.

So just throwing the question out there to see if anyone has implemented on their BP and what they are seeing in terms of users on mobile devices.

Are you running AMP on your BP site(s)

Could you add a readme.txt file for potential testers describing how it works.w

The look of your pages including the profile will be determined in large part by the theme you are using. Not sure if the image you referenced is the default buddypress theme with modifications or another WordPress theme. Pretty much any well designed WordPress theme should work but those made compatible with BP work best. You may want to try searching the WP theme directory with Buddypress as a keyword. There are also premium themes designed for BP which create their own look and feel for your site.
    Hope that helps
