In reply to: How to change the position of Userbar and Optionbar
Socialpreneur: Ok thanks.
Would I have to edit the header.php for both the home and bpmember theme? So I would add the same code to both files?
<div id="header">
<h1 id="logo"><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php bp_site_name() ?></a></h1>
<ul id="nav">
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( 'home' ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php bp_home_blog_url() ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Blog', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Blog', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Members', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Members', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php if ( function_exists( 'groups_install' ) ) { ?>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_GROUPS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_GROUPS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Groups', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Groups', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>
<?php if ( function_exists( 'bp_blogs_install' ) ) { ?>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_BLOGS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_BLOGS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Blogs', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Blogs', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>
<?php do_action( 'bp_nav_items' ); ?>
</ul>
</div>If I wanted to add another menu-link would I have to add something like this to both header.php files? Saying the new page was called ‘pagename’:
<?php if ( function_exists( 'bp_pagename_install' ) ) { ?>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_PAGENAME_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_PAGENAME_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Pagename', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Pagename', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>Or is this wrong? Just wanna make sure I do it right.
In reply to: How to change the position of Userbar and OptionbarAnyone care to help me with this?
Can I do the positioning of the 2 menus just by editing the CSS? #Userbar and #optionsbar in base.css?
What about adding a new menulink to the site? How do I do this?
In reply to: How to: Add a new menu sectionI still need some help on adding new menu links. Anyone?
In reply to: How to: Add a new menu sectionSocialpreneur > I thought adding another menu link would require that i make another directory inside the bptheme ‘directory’ folder?
How come Members, Groups and Blogs has a directory then?
In reply to: How to: Add a new menu sectionSocialpreneur >
I guess its the header.php file in the bpmember theme that has to be edited and not the header.php in the home theme? Or should the change be added to both header.php files?
They almost look the same so whats the difference between the two?
Also how would the code look, there’s a section where it says:
Bpmember theme’s header.php:
<div id="header">
<h1 id="logo"><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php bp_site_name() ?></a></h1>
<ul id="nav">
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( 'home' ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Home', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php bp_home_blog_url() ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Blog', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Blog', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Members', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Members', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php if ( function_exists( 'groups_install' ) ) { ?>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_GROUPS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_GROUPS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Groups', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Groups', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>
<?php if ( function_exists( 'bp_blogs_install' ) ) { ?>
<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( BP_BLOGS_SLUG ) ) {?> class="selected"<?php } ?>><a href="<?php echo get_option('home') ?>/<?php echo BP_BLOGS_SLUG ?>" title="<?php _e( 'Blogs', 'buddypress' ) ?>"><?php _e( 'Blogs', 'buddypress' ) ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>
<?php do_action( 'bp_nav_items' ); ?>
</ul>
</div>Its probably here the extra code would have to be added? I cant seem to get it to work.
In reply to: Skeleton Theme helpThanks Andy, that makes good sense!

If I want to create another member section called “activity” in the navigation bar (not the admin-bar) what changes would I have to make to my theme?
My thoughts would be to add a new folder under “directories” in my theme folder called activity. (same place where the 3 other sections are located)
And id probably need to add something to the header.php as well where the navigation sections are located?
In reply to: Skeleton Theme helpThanks for helping jeff.
Say I have a site containing some of the same sections as on this site and the standard buddypress theme:
Home | About | Blog | Members | Groups | Blogs | Profile (users profile)
The BP-home theme (regular wordpress theme) would that be controlling the ‘Home’, ‘About’ and ‘Blog’ sections?
While Bp-member theme would be controlling sections like ‘Members’, ‘Groups, ‘Blogs’ and the ‘Profile’ section for each user?
Or is it the bp-home theme that controls all the sections. Meaning ill just have to integrate buddypress tags/loops to the different pages that I create on my bp-home theme?
In reply to: Stylesheet not loading for Default Member ThemeI have the same kind of problem with the ‘Members’, ‘Groups’ and ‘Blogs’ page. Its like these pages are not hooked up with the CSS. I only have this problem when using the latest Skeleton member theme thou. If I use the standard bpmember theme there\’s no problem. Why is that? Problems with the latest Skeleton theme on BP 1.0? :>
In reply to: Skeleton Theme helpIf thats the way to structure it, I think I have the hang of it…
I would like to create a “closed-community”.
The first page you should see when you goto the domain is a splash site that contains only 3 things:
– A login box
– A signup box
– Recent members
And when you login the Community opens up with more widgets/components.
How is this possible?
Which would be the home-theme, the splash-page or the page when you’ve logged in?
In reply to: Skeleton Theme helpOkay thanks. What I did last time i created a theme was pretty much following these instructions: http://www.jestro.com/web-design/convert-xhtml-css-to-wordpress/
So the theme I create for buddypress has to have the same kind of structure with a header, content, footer ect. And then eventually after i’ve structured it like that I can implement buddypress tags/loops into the layout and style with CSS.
In reply to: Skeleton Theme helpHi Jeff,
I once designed a theme for wordpress yes. Been a while thou. I know CSS pretty well.

Anyways, ill probably figure it out once ive played around with the skeleton theme for a week or two. I guess its like designing a wordpress theme just that now you have buddypress tags to play with as well.
Do you know why the 3 sections Members, Groups and Blogs looks like they arnt connected to any css file in the skeleton theme?
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.0 Has ArrivedGreat job!!
))
In reply to: Group invitation ActivityNevermind… works after i made a fresh install of bp/wpmu
In reply to: Recent blog posts (site wide) isnt working anymoreI think it was after i added the option for new user registrations and i added some extra profile fields that “Recent Blog Posts (side wide)” and sitewide activity for new posts broke.

In reply to: Admin-bar flickering on 1.0 RC-2….By the way im using IE 7.0 … but I think its the same with IE 8.0?
In reply to: Avatars / profile-picturesOk Andy,
Anyways, thanks for all your fantastic work on BB. Love the new buddypress.org layout. There’s some issues with the tables breaking here and there in my browser (IE7) but I guess your already aware of that.
In reply to: Avatars / profile-picturesHi Burtadsit,
Your right, on the RC-1 I can upload an avatar during signup, I can also change it afterwards with a new image in my profile… Funny I didnt see that!
I guess it confused me a little that I was unable to change my avatar on the new buddypress.org layout without going to gravatar.com. (Not like RC-1)
It says:
Your avatar will be used on your profile and throughout the site.
Avatars on BuddyPress are controlled by the globally recognized avatar system (Gravatar). To change or create a new avatar for your account, please login or signup at: http://gravatar.com.
If you are signing up for a new Gravatar account, make sure you use the same email address that is registered with your WordPress.org account.

So I would have to goto gravatar.com and upload a new avatar instead of just uploading it on the buddypress site. I guess the avatars on the new layout is all controlled by gravatar.com.
In reply to: Login page before home themeOkay thanks, that clears it up a bit. Im not that strong in php but I still managed to build a custom theme in WordPress using the inbuilt template tags.
burtadsit > Do you know if there’s a similar page with template tags and a description for each tag for BuddyPress / The skeleton theme.
Like an “Overview” page that maybe looks like this: https://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags
That page helped me so much delveloping my own theme and understanding the function of each tag.
In reply to: latest profile visitors widgetSounds great nicolagreco, I’ve seen this feature being used in quite a few communities and personally I think it’s cool to see if/who is actually looking at your profile and maybe even come back because they find your profile interesting. Its just another activity widget which is nice-to-have in my opinion.
In reply to: latest profile visitors widgetI dont know but would be a nice feature on the member profile!
In reply to: Reporting & Fixing BugsHi, I installed buddypress yesterday, everything works well, except I get a script-error in the admin section under ‘Profile fields’:
Line: 147
Char: 45
Error: Object dosen’t support this property or method
Any fix for this?
