    Hi:
I am running wp 3.1.1 and buddypress 1.28 in live beta. I am having what sounds like a similar problem. I can create groups fine, and post updates fine. Forums are turned on and enabled, including in the group checkbox.
When I post a new topic, I get the “There was an error creating topic” and “There are no posts for this topic”. The url is …/groups/forum/topic// which looks suspicious to me. But then when I click on the Forum tab, all topics and groups are listed, but again, when I click on the topic title I get the “There are no posts for this topic” msg. The url is of the form … /groups/group-title/forum/topic/forum-title/.
If I click on the Forum tab and then a group title, I am brought to the forum and it lists the topics and the url looks like …/groups/group-title/forum/, and I see the “Post a new topic” form. And again, when I click on the topic title I get the “There are no posts for this topic” msg. This time the url is of the form … /groups/group-title/forum/topic/topic-title/. When I again post a new topic, I get the “There was an error creating topic” and “There are no posts for this topic”. url is …/groups/group-title/forum/topic/topic-title/.
If I click on My/Groups or on the group list in the sidebar I can post updates and replies Ok.

So, everything seems to be there, but the navigation seems messed up and too confusing for anyone to use. Because this is still a beta site I tried deleting all groups/forums disabling them, deactivating most everything, including buddypress, and I have re-installed bbpress and the configure file is in the wp root dir. a few times. It is possible I installed a new bbpress one of those times instead of using the existin bbpress that came with buddypress. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
