Same problem here.
I found two workarounds so far.
1. if you use mediapress or rtmedia as media component, they have a feature for uploading from activity stream.
2. replace “what’s new” by tinymce. I have chosen the second option but I am struggling with the editor resizing. See the thread

I could add some additonal info on the group memberlist near each member. As you see on the screenshot, on the right hand there are links for chat and email. A loggedin member should not see them. They will never send email to/chat with themselves. They only need to see other persons’ links.

What is the profile url of a user (generally speaking) ?

My admin bar is visible only from the dashboard. Can I change the site-name url to point to the user profile or should I add a custom link?
