In reply to: group avatar problem
Go to Settings -> Miscellaneous Settings

Set “Store uploads in this folder” to “wp-content/uploads”.

Set “Full URL path to files” to the REAL FULL PATH of your uploads.

Then change bp-core-avatars.php line 389:
Replace
:
if ( !$path = get_option( ‘upload_path’ ) )

$path = WP_CONTENT_DIR . ‘/uploads’;

With:

if ( !$path = get_option( ‘upload_path’ ) )

$path = WP_CONTENT_DIR . ‘/uploads’;
else
$path = ABSPATH . $path;
It fixes the problem.
Since this is a modification in one core file, you need to do that everytime you upgrade BP. Don’t foget!
Unless it gets fixed in the future.
Still didn’t solve this. I am missing something very basic here.
Anyone?
r-a-y, without success, I tried those two options in bp-custom.php:
function my_bp_album_upload_path() {
$path = ABSPATH . 'wp-content/uploads/album';
return $path;
}
add_filter('bp_album_upload_path','my_bp_album_upload_path');
and:
function my_bp_album_upload_path() {
$path = ABSPATH . 'site/wp-content/uploads/album';
return $path;
}
add_filter('bp_album_upload_path','my_bp_album_upload_path');
“site” is my subfolder.
The images sources still doesn’t have the subfolder in the path.
As I said, this is due to the previous filter:
_bp_override_core_domain() {
$domain = get_bloginfo('url');
return $domain;
}
add_filter('bp_core_get_root_domain','my_bp_override_core_domain');
Thanks r-a-y, I can’t test it right now (am at the seaside), but tomorrow evening when I’ll be back, I will.
I’ll let you know.
This is the bit that I am sure I need to change:
function bp_album_upload_path(){
if ( bp_core_is_multisite() )
$path = ABSPATH . get_blog_option( BP_ROOT_BLOG, 'upload_path' );
else {
$upload_path = get_option( 'upload_path' );
$upload_path = trim($upload_path);
if ( empty($upload_path) || 'wp-content/uploads' == $upload_path) {
$path = WP_CONTENT_DIR . '/uploads';
} else {
$path = $upload_path;
if ( 0 !== strpos($path, ABSPATH) ) {
// $dir is absolute, $upload_path is (maybe) relative to ABSPATH
$path = path_join( ABSPATH, $path );
}
}
}
$path .= '/album';
return apply_filters( 'bp_album_upload_path', $path );
}
But what in there?
And, is there a way to do it via bp-custom.php, so that I don’t need to change the plugin core file everytime there is an upgrade?
sacstephen, try to put this in bp-template.php
function my_bp_override_core_domain() {$domain = get_bloginfo('url');
return $domain;
}
add_filter('bp_core_get_root_domain','my_bp_override_core_domain');
If you don’t have this file, create it in wp-content/plugins
Let us know.
In reply to: Avatars disappeared after 1.2.3 upgrade!Sorry for the late reply, different time zone (Europe). I just woke up.
I forget the modified code I had on the bp-core-avatars.php file for the avatars fix.
I put it back as kb734 suggested, and now the avatars are working again.
I’ll write a note that I need to do that for each upgrade.
Should this be considered for the core files in the next release?
In reply to: Avatars disappeared after 1.2.3 upgrade!Than I just don’t know. Still, i got that right after the upgrade and I need to fix that.
Any idea how?
Can I upload avatars FOR the members, as an admin?
Is there a way to re-point to the old avatars.
I want to consider asking members to re-upload their avatars as the very last solution.
In reply to: Avatars disappeared after 1.2.3 upgrade!r-a-y, I know, it’s just gravatars all over the place. But why? And especially, what should I do to point it back to avatars?
In reply to: Notification ProblemI am. Friend notifications indeed.
In reply to: Avatars disappeared after 1.2.3 upgrade!I did nothing at all. Just upgraded.
But: while upgrading I got 2 fatal errors. 1 from Tweetstram, the other form BP Album+.
I renamed the plugins to deactivate them, and once I got my admin back I re-activated them.
Don’t know if that has anything to do, but I rather report everyghing that happend.
In reply to: Avatars disappeared after 1.2.3 upgrade!DJPaul, Is this the info you asked me for?
What does it tell you?
Thanks!
In reply to: Notification ProblemGot the same annoying prroblem!

In reply to: Update to 1.2.3…and the groups avatars as well!
In reply to: Update to 1.2.3After the update, the member’s avatars are not recognized anymore. Does anybody else encounter this?
And how to fix it?
I checked and the phisical avatars are in wp-content/uploads.
Any help?
If you integrate BP into an existing theme, you probbly want to have the new pages generated from BP to look like the rest of yor site.
In order to do so, usually you need to structure the templates files that generate web pages, those in which you have:
<?php get_header(); ?><?php get_footer(); ?><?php get_sidebar(); ?>Sometimes you have an unique design and a custom HTML structure.
One may have
<div id=”content”>…</div>
as content area.
Another may have
<div id=”main”>…</div>
as content area, for example.
Installing the plugin doesn’t do the work of making BP pages layout as WP pages.
You need to do it by hand.
And where are the files that you need to change?
In the list I provided above.
Simple piece of information, but probably useful.
In reply to: FAQ: How To, Code Snippets and SolutionsStandard WP – Getting rid of the “subdirectory” in permalinks when WP is installed in a subdirectory
Create a file called “bp-custom.php” in wp-content/plugins.
Paste this:
function my_bp_override_core_domain() {
$domain = get_bloginfo('url');
return $domain;
}
add_filter('bp_core_get_root_domain','my_bp_override_core_domain');Now, instead of having: mysite.com/subfolder/activity, you have: mysite.com/activity.
In reply to: Help : Friends online widgetHi Marcus, can you tell me what exactly this widget does?
And if yuo can use it only as a widget or as an include in template files?
Thanks.
Actually I was looking for a simple snippet to show who’s online. Can’t believe I can’t put my hands on it!
@the-molitor Did you try the code and settings above?
Well, I did apply the redirection rules, for the moment. It works fine.
But I am considering just going and delete everything from the activity stream, since nobody is active on the site, for the moment. So I might as well go and restart the whole activity (basically just me).
Duplicate stuff is not good for SEO and redirection slows things down in some occations.
Tomorrow I’ll write a ticket in the TRAC as you suggested.
Will it re-cahe sort of things at some point, by itself?
Because there is no so much activity at thsi moment, so I don’t mind if later it fixes by itself.
And the links do work with “site” in the URL, anyway. Not like you get a blank page.
What you think?
Ok! I’ll do that.
Anyway, I was maybe wrong about the links not pointing to a path with “site” bafore actually clicking. So do, some don’t. It can be a cache thing. Don’t know. But I can probably live with that.
