In reply to: Choose categories or tags for activities
Great to hear! A typo in the function name is always a hard one to debug unless the function doesn’t exist and you get a PHP error.
In reply to: Choose categories or tags for activitiesCan you see what bp_activity_id() is returning by using var_dump() on the $actID variable?
In reply to: Not getting BuddyPress registration emailsAre you sure the emails aren’t being sent? Could the BP emails be going into a spam folder?
In reply to: City, State, Country Location PluginItβs a single field.
That’s good because it makes the user location simple
Thanks for the info!
In reply to: City, State, Country Location PluginNice @shanebp!
Does the plugin support dependent fields? This kind of thing:
Town
City – auto populated based on value of Town
Country – auto populated based on value of TownIn reply to: City, State, Country Location PluginThanks; it’s useful to know π
In reply to: City, State, Country Location PluginThat’s an interesting plugin. Do you know if the location fields are xProfile fields?
In reply to: Change Text on Registration PageTake a look at the Template Hierarchy article. The register.php template is the one you’ll need to modify.
In reply to: How to set a testimonial page for members?BuddyPress doesn’t have testimonial functionality but you should be able to find a plugin to get what you need.
In reply to: [Resolved] Unminified JavascriptYou can dequeue a minified script with
wp_dequeue_script()and then enqueue the non-minified version withwp_enqueue_script().Ref
In reply to: [Resolved] Friendships componentIs the Friend Connections component activated when you go to Settings > BuddyPress?
In reply to: Choose categories or tags for activitiesMeta would allow you to segregate activity item types. You could add to meta after a new activity item is posted. The hook for that is
bp_activity_add.Hope this helps.
In reply to: Choose categories or tags for activitiesBuddyPress activity items aren’t WordPress posts so as far as I know you can’t associate categories or tags with them. However, activity items do have associated meta.
Take a look at these functions which will be useful to you:
bp_activity_add_meta() bp_activity_update_meta() bp_activity_get_meta() bp_activity_delete_meta()In reply to: get eventsTry this:
$args = array( 'meta_key' => 'group_id', 'meta_value' => '1', 'meta_compare' => '=', 'post_type' => 'event', 'posts_per_page' => -1 ); $query = new WP_Query( $args ); if ( $query->have_posts() ) { // Events } else { // No events }In reply to: Custom Members-Loop and Pagination issuesTry using bp_parse_args instead. That’s the way I’d recommend to filter the members loop (both pagination and the loop of members will be addressed)
In reply to: Hide Required BuddyPress Name FieldYou have 2 options. I’d recommend the 2nd:
1: Copy and paste the JavaScript to your my-theme/buddypress/members/register.php template. In this case you’ll need to copy the
<script>tags also.
2: Create a separate file (my-theme/js/script.js for example) and paste the JavaScript into that. In this case you don’t need to copy the<script>tags. If you go down this route you will need to enqueue the script. See this article for info on how to do that:In reply to: Network for private persons and companiesIs that possible?
Yes but you’ll need to install some plugins and maybe write some custom code to get the functionality you need.

In reply to: Odd Characters in EmailsHey @kdannay
Is BuddyPress actually sending
Γ’β¬βor is the problem at your client’s end? i.e. your client’s email client can’t display theβcharacter properly?In reply to: Error upgrading to 2.8.xI just spoke with Boone, he suggested a reinstall of BuddyPress is needed because it looks as though your upgrade didn’t complete properly. bp-core-functions.php shouldn’t contain a reference to the
BP_Core_Sort_By_Key_Callbackclass because the class was removed in 2.8.0.In reply to: Error upgrading to 2.8.xThe file (and class) exists in 2.7.4 but not in 2.8.0. I’ll ask over at Slack and report back.
In reply to: Bypass Email RequirementNote email addresses are used for password management (resetting a lost password for example). If members use dummy email addresses they risk being locked out of the site if they forget their password.
In reply to: create xprofile fields from pluginI believe
xprofile_insert_field()will insert or update a profile field. Here’s an example of how to use it:$f = xprofile_insert_field( array( 'field_group_id' => 8, 'type' => 'textbox', 'name' => 'Foo', 'is_required' => false, 'can_delete' => false, 'description' => 'This is a description.' ) );On success,
$fwill be the ID of the new field.In reply to: BuddyPress Activity ShortCode PluginYou should try asking on the plugin’s support forum. Hopefully the author will be able to help.
In reply to: buddypress slow for logged-in usersTry using Twenty Fifteen and disabling all plugins. It’s either a plugin or your theme that’s slowing things down. Once you find the culprit you can try opening a support ticket with the theme or plugin author.
