two things first please, One: topic titles need to be descriptive of the issue, not a genaralised plea for help, we know you want help otherwise you likely wouldn’t have posted Two: Please refrain from writing in caps, writing in capitals in lists and forums means that you are shouting, we would rather you didn’t […]

Cool, yes it was the ‘group’ in bp_get_group_member_id() that foxed me for a while.
considering both snippets work to the same effect, do you consider one over the other to be preferable? -
hnla posted on the forum topic I can create a blog but not access it in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 6 months ago
The reason Mercime asked you to deactivate BP was to establish whether blogs worked with WP, blogs are a feature of WP rather than BP and it’s important before running BP or attempting to troubleshoot issues that it’s established everything is working properly with plain vanilla WP. You need to switch to a NON BP […]

You can’t run BP on a wordpress.com site.
You would need to install your own copy of WP on your own domain and then install and activate BP.

I’m afraid a hijack it was, putting a link in the post tended to harden that fact. generally hijacking or taking a thread off tangent is any post or comment that deviates from the original OP’s starting post

hnla posted on the forum topic Can WordPress/BP folks (Automattic) provide BP web Hosting or Recommend a web host? in the group BuddyPress Hosting: 15 years, 6 months ago
Worry free hosting means a reputable host offering a full on managed system really. In reality there isn’t a great deal to do to a server to optimise it for WP/BP at least not with a server you have root access to that you can configure exactly as you need and that has a fast […]

Your still talking about a VPS / dedicated 🙂 if you are serious about hosting clients and managing sites and domains then you have to have the control and resources that come with a VPS or semi dedicated – forget shared hosting you will never run busy sites of any description on shared hosting. Yes I would expect to get a clear answer if I asked the question of data transfer overage costs, usually it’s no more than the odd pound/few dollars per GB Storage is another matter I would expect that most hosts simply set a limit. You can’t go over your physical storage allocation as it is […]

No BP does not empower user blogs alone , WPMU or as is it now WP Multi Site handles the mutli blog capability so you could have user blogs without the need for BP. Essentially BP just sees that multi site is active and provides links to them in user profiles amd directory views and […]

You’re asking for the world and you’re not going to get it! 🙂 Unlimited everything but you don’t want to have to pay too much for that? Any host that offered all you asked for is one to consider steering clear of. You need a VPS and the understanding that if you want RELIABLE hosting […]

To be honest, I found the reference to being spammy a little harsh… that’s all, because I hate spammers! I only posted the link to my topic as it was on the same topic and offered a different solution. I guess everyone has a certain tolerance before something becomes spammy, but given I just posted a link in one topic I thought it was ok.
