By the looks of things first thing you need to do is go into your account and change your display name that kicks your activity stream into life – I note you have nothing on there at the moment – this may be the cause of issues.

@alice-claire This isn’t really a BP issue as it’s WP comments it will happen whether BP is activated or not. Really you need to seek answers on the WP support forums, there is probably a workaround to remove that data using a filter.

No you should not use CSS to achieve this. If you have stray comment characters then you haven’t removed things correctly and have left those characters in the markup to be parsed. Re-visit the code remove those.

This doesn’t sound like a standard BP file? is it modified? copy the code in the file to pastebin so people can see what you are modifying.

That is not the normal default behaviour of BP, and likely have some other plugin causing this behaviour? You need to provide a little detail with posts though otherwise it’s hard to help. To test if this is BP or not disable all plugins other than BP and run the default theme or just your chosen theme if using BP 1.7 RC and see how the login works.

Think maybe you ought to address questions about the bbPress plugin to the bbpress forums, you’ll likely get a more informed response there.

1.7 is compatible with themes that follow the correct WP conventions if it doesn’t work then it’s the themes fault essentially, and this we have been remarking on and off for a while, this has been the aim of 1.7 all along the betas and RC releases haven’t changed that as such.

You’re would to need to find this ruleset:
