In reply to: How to: Modify the bp admin bar
im pretty good with modifying it, i just dont want to modify the actual files, what is the best way to implement a plugin kinda thing to tell bp the actual html to use?
In reply to: buddypress + p2 themei think the problem your having is the fact that p2 is not a “buddypress theme”
like in the main theme how it has a large widget area and 2 small ones, and also has a BLOG tab where the main blog is
the problem your having with p2 (and any other standard wordpress theme) is the BLOG tab is displayed on the main page rather than a large widget sidebar, as the recent blog posts thing is actually a widget, if you put this widget in your p2 sidebar you will see a direct comparison between the 2
currently you cant have a p2 “theme” that aggregates ALL blog posts like the buddypress widget does,
all the users will be posting to the main blog if you want them to use p2, and if you do then the current skin should be fine? it was designed to show comments
im sure you could add some nice jscript to add collapsing comments? this would probably bring better functionallity to your site if you didnt want the comments taking up the whole page?
In reply to: Keeping BP experience as simple as possiblethere is a plugin to disable the dashboard but then obviously they cant edit the blog?
i think what your looking for is just plain wordpress (not mu / multi user) and buddypress which is upcoming, theres a thread about it in the forum if your interested, it would definately be worth a read and then base your decision on that
In reply to: mysite.com/user VS mysite.com/members/useri kinda know how to do this, i am planning on switching the members profiles to http://username.hyrxx.com and the blogs to http://username.hyrxx.com/blogs /comments /photos etc
so it brings more of a focus onto the profile than the blog
because buddypress is about the profiles right?
ill let you know how i get on
In reply to: Still no Avatar fix?just a quick question, what is this memory limit thing
i know it prevents me from uploading big images etc, but what is it actually refering to?
the chunk of memory allocated to the script at runtime? ie is this just space in ram for php to use?
In reply to: How to: Modify the bp admin baris it possible to have the admin menu start on the buddypress image, rather than my account,
i plan to rewrite all the menu items when i redesign my site, and i want to attach a menu to the buddypress ‘home’ link
In reply to: custom slug via bp-custom makes menu icons disappeari changed the wire to comments so we added an extra class in for that, and the events icon wasnt working either aparently, not sure what the deal is though
In reply to: custom slug via bp-custom makes menu icons disappeari agree with this, we added css code to the custom css file to correct this, the problem is that it changes the css id to the custom slug, so its obviously not there
In reply to: XMLRPC support in BuddyPress with BPDEV XMLRPCsorry i still dont understand exactly what it is this will enable, i kinda understand how xmlrpc works for wordpress to enable trackbacks but what will this do for us and buddypress??
In reply to: Group invite as in XING?by xing do you mean ning? where users can create their own social networks?
i think thats a little different from just a group membership, not saying it cant be done but why just join the user to a group what about introducing some of the members of the group
In reply to: Rename Wire Linkit works perfectly for me, on my site i renamed the wire to comments
In reply to: Displaying Birthday on Profile[double post sorry]
In reply to: Displaying Birthday on Profilewould it also be possible to include an option to display the calulated age from the birthday field, i would rather it show their age than birthdate,
i have an age field but it would be much better if it updated everytime they got older, this can be easily calculated from the birthdate
In reply to: WPMU + mutiple domain + simlinks = Plz Help!!!change the options for blog 1 in the database
i have done this, changed the blog on hyrxx.com to hyrxx.tv
however, i have the multi site manager installed, this way i could just move the blog and then change the options in the db and done.
what i think your trying to do is change the whole install to another domain correct? (including files??)
let me know if you need more help
In reply to: Twitter to Wiredownload the new twire component in beta from davids website
sorry what i shouldve said was that im using the multi site manager, so i just moved the blog using the move blog tool in the dashboard, im not transfering it from one script or database to another
what should the values be in the database
my domains are hyrxx.com < where the member profiles should be hyrxx.com/members/username this used to be where blog id 1 resided
however i moved that blog to my other domain hyrxx.tv, so now on hyrxx.com i have another blog which is id 44,
In reply to: Need Testers: Featured Members Widgeti have just added this to my site, however its not behaving very well, it stuffs up the next widget, also it only shows the members name and no aditional info, would be nice to show the users main blog link or something,
also the text where the name is, isnt at the top next to the avatar like the other widgets
take a look at it in action on my homepage to see what i mean
In reply to: Blog link in top bar returns “not found”i have had this before and i belive it is all in one seo, so if you have that installed go to the options and uncheck rewrite titles, as it doesnt play nice with buddypress, hope that helps
In reply to: can a user enter his own password at registration?i was aware of this one, but i am not really interested in paying for it
but this does show that it is possible
In reply to: can a user enter his own password at registration?yes, they are all incompatible though, i think the signup process is different, maybe one of these plugins could be modifyed to work for mu
In reply to: can a user enter his own password at registration?i want this so bad omg, all my users are the type of people that dont realise that it sends you this stupid random password and that you have to login with it, and then theres changing it….
i loose a lot of potential users this way just because they cant choose the password they want
please help us out
In reply to: registration fieldscould you be a bit more specific, there was nothing there that i was specifically asking for..
In reply to: Same instance of Buddypress across domains?wpmu and buddypress are installed on hyrxx.com and hyrxx.tv is another domain added using the multisite manager which allows me to use the same installation but for multiple domains at the moment its blank but i am going to move my main blog there
my freinds blog is also hosted on my installation in this way
rather than having to use subdomains
In reply to: Same instance of Buddypress across domains?you should use one install of mu and then use multi site manager it uses just the one database
you can then use it like so to access members profiles
eg
http://hyrxx.com/members/Hyrxx/ (dot com)
http://hyrxx.tv/members/Hyrxx/ (dot tv)
In reply to: Twitter to Wirethis used to work but stopped working since rc1 where wponce security was added, the plugin needs to be updated, i have this installed and still have posts on my wire from it
i guess its just a matter of contacting the author and asking them to update the plugin
