@dcatkins40 Keep us posted!
Nag the dev of WP-Polls to make it BP compat
Would be pretty neat! A little superfluous, but neat!
I second this! bp-default has grey hairs and is getting a little wrinkly
Still haven’t figured it out, 1 month later.
That smiley isn’t suppose to be there. LOL
@ewebber Are you using a VPS, or shared?
Editing your replies don’t go to the correct link either (well, the last time I checked – if so, then I’ll try to edit this one as soon as I post it.)
Edit: Seems to be fixed…? Good then lol.
Has the Hashtag plugin been updated for BP 1.5+ I’d be awesome if Trending topics were built into that – such as the most-frequent #hashtags are spit out as a widget or something. Kinda like how post tags can be done similar.
What if you’re trying to tie the custom function into wp_nav_menu_items? Can’t seem to get it working. See my topic about it here:https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/adding-notifications-to-wp_nav_menu_items/
Forgot to mention that this is in my functions.php file in my theme.
I think you’re referring to the regular WP bar? Put the following in your wp-config.php:
define(‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true);
l”Move away from BuddyPress,” “retain your members,” “program away from BuddyPress” – I don’t really understand what you mean. BuddyPress is extendable – you can add/subtract whatever you want.
Depends on what your needs are. If you need a social network for your particular niche/interest, then BuddyPress is your best bet. If you just need a little spot for group chatting about something, then create a Facebook Group.
BuddyPress isn’t “just a plugin,” though. It’s a whole suit of plugins built into one. And similarly to what @Modemlooper said, if you don’t need to own or control your data, then BuddyPress might be overkill. And if you intend on creating another Facebook, just give up now lol. Unless you have tens of millions of dollars, you won’t stand a chance. Niche is the way to go.
“… should I use this software or a complete social networking software”
That’s insulting to BP! lol. If you want 100% ownership of your data, 100% customization, 100% extendable, and 100% free, BuddyPress is your man – or woman.
I kinda noticed thumbnails were blurry too sometimes. Hmm.
Thanks @valuser. I also found out more about it here: http://bit.ly/r2akXB
Needs updating.
You can click on “Public Message” on their profile – they’ll get a notification and your message will show up under their “wall.” I think there should be a post box on ever profile though
There also needs to be some CSS styling to the bbPress forums page (i.e. http://allmad.org/rants/)
@davidtcarson Loving the theme updates! The theme is lookin fricken awesome.
I just noticed with the drop downs, the width of them aren’t automatically expanding to accommodate longer text (http://i51.tinypic.com/nwbthl.png)
Yeah, I’m about to move mine as well. Did it work alright for you? How’d you do it?
@davidtcarson Another thing: We have two search bars: one in the Buddy Bar up top and one across from the site logo. The one in the Buddy Bar is kinda useless though because it doesn’t allow you to select between Members/Groups/Forums/Posts. So, perhaps a tip in the Readme file for how someone could get rid of that one?
Another thing, I guess: Profile pages are pretty empty to the right of profiles – a looooot of space is wasted, especially when you’re using a small netbook like me. But I suppose, changing it might interfere with other plugins that place things there. Perhaps a setting in Admin where you could alternate the profile to use the space a little more better (per, or to have it like it is right now (so you could use other plugins). (Or, perhaps even a “sidebar” up there so we could stick some widgets/text/etc. in there if we wanted to?)
Also, would be nice if we could have two sidebars, on the left and on the right, to make use of the room even more. (I really want this feature lol)
I just got the latest version a few hours ago. For me, the menu only looks okay if I don’t assign a menu to the theme in Appearance > Menus > Theme Locations. If I do set it, then it looks like it does in my image above.
Also, in the backend, I’m seeing this message:
“You’ll need to activate a BuddyPress-compatible theme to take advantage of all of BuddyPress’s features. We’ve bundled a default theme, but you can always install some other compatible themes or update your existing WordPress theme.”Also, in your profile > Activity tab > Personal (when viewing another member’s profile) / Mentions / Friends / Groups, there is no spacing above the first activity stream item
That’s all I could find! Good job!
@davidtcarson Thanks for the update, it’s looking awesome – especially the sidebars! Might wanna style the nav drop downs, though (http://i56.tinypic.com/15q53y9.png)
Weird, it looks like some CSS isn’t being applied. Try downloading the theme again, and reactivating it.
