I am looking for something similar to the OP but with a twist – a plugin or hack that will restrict buddypress access by userlevel, so that people can register but only access buddypress if Admins for example. Does anyone know how to do this? @jeffsayre will your Privacy component be able to achieve this? Thanks […]

@jeffsayre Thanks I got it, Also, I was wondering if you can point me in the right direction. I’m having an issue with my registration page. When people register their Usernames (not real names) they can’t have any spaces and you can’t have any upper case letters anywhere in the register page? Do you know of any plugin conflicts that would cause…[Read more]

@jeffsayre, I’m using 2.9.2 MU and the latest version of buddypress. Are they compatible with the featured members plugin? Also, what are the IDs for the members, is it referring to the usernames?. Thanks,

@jeffsayre Hi again Jeff. 🙂
I’m looking at the “Load more” link at the bottom of this page, and wonder how I can get that on my site, for example just showing 10 updates and then a button/link like that, extending the list to 10 more posts each time it is clicked.-
It would be best to ask these questions in the support forums as you will have more of a chance of getting a quicker response. It also puts the replies into an area from which others in the community can benefit.
As to your question, search the bp_default theme and you will see that this functionality is already included. The ”Load More” but…[Read more]

@jeffsayre it wasn’t my goal when I started the topic, but as soon as I started to dig beneath the surface, it became clear that it would have to be all-or-nothing ordeal as renaming only the slugs might confuse some of my members.

Joe Marino posted on the forum topic Renaming Components in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 14 years, 4 months ago
@jeffsayre I did see that and I considered only renaming the slugs but I was looking for more of a complete rename of the words “group” and “groups” site-wide. Poedit was helpful in that regard, but it would have taken me a while to manually edit each entry with those words in them. I may get […]

@jeffsayre Hi Jeff, I asked this question before and didn’t get a response.. Is there a way to only show, updates, posts, etc. from a specific person while searching buddypress.org? For instance if I wanted to see all of your posts/activity only on BP.org AND nobody elses’… If I click on your name, I get all of the people you are following and…[Read more]

Happy to hear you’ll be able to get it fixed quickly, and thanks for the workaround in the meantime. WordPress Hook Sniffer is a powerful tool that’s helped us solve some incredibly tricky defects.
On behalf of the BP Album dev team …thanks!

I thought that I might post the site that I’m working on. It is http://pingmusic.com.au
It is a music education site built on WordPress 3.0 and BP 1.2.5. Heavily modified child theme of the default BuddyPress them (modified @modemloopers bp-widget theme), and all blogs are child themes of the new WP default Twenty Ten.Students are going to be…[Read more]

@r-a-y @r-a-y @jeffsayre Ok.. another, probably redundant, question for you… If I go to the child Theme… will this massive change here:
https://trac.buddypress.org/attachment/ticket/2203/2203.002.diff
Stay when I upgrade BP to 1.2.5.2?
I had htis programmed in on 1.2.4 and I believe it is what fixed the timestamp issue for me… so I…[Read more]

That patch doesn’t have anything to do with themes in general so if you’re using a child theme, you should be good to go!
However, if you upgrade to BP 1.2.5.2, you will need to reapply the patch since that did not make it into the latest BP release.
-
I messed myself up and didn’t know it.. I had the timestamp working in 1.2.4 then I upgraded to 1.2.5 just today I found out it wasn’t working and connected the upgrade to 1.2.5 of writing over what I did in 1.2.4 … when I put this in again in 1.2.5.2 and if it works… that should be good confirmation of the patch….

@jeffsayre Hi Jeff, I work for the University of British Columbia and we are planning on rolling out BuddyPress for the campus this summer. We needed a privacy option for our users and from this site I found out a good news that you are currently working on this. Will you be release this before end of July? That’d be great if you can let me know…[Read more]

My Privacy Component should be out before the end of July. But, I’ve been absolutely terrible with my predictions over the last 7 or so months. There are a few core changes that still need to find their way into BuddyPress before I can release the plugin. I think they will be added in the next version or so.

@jeffsayre @jeffsayre How can I submit a plug-in to Buddypress ? I have just created a plugin for my-self which can lockdown the BP site for Non-logged in users. They will not be able to browse Members , Activity parts. Only logged in users will be allowed.
-
You need to submit your plugin to the WordPress Plugin Repository. Make sure you include the tag buddypress in the “Tags” line of the header section of your plugin’s readme.txt file.
