I am running the latest wordpress mu 2.7 and lates BP- rc1
What does “lates” mean? Do you mean that you’re running the latest BP version?
If so, do you mean that you obtained BuddyPress from the big, orange Download button? Or, did you upgrade from trunk?
In reply to: messaging errorJugoretz-
There have been various messaging bug fixes to RC1 since it was packaged. Either you should upgrade to the newest trunk (read this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2171 then this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1994 ) or wait for a packaged zip of RC2.
Remember, BuddyPress has not yet been officially released as version 1.0. This means that it is a work in progress and changes are literally being made to it everyday. Running it in a production environment is strongly discouraged until it is officially released.

Which versions of BuddyPress and WPMU are you running?
In reply to: Php plugin error – loginGreat!
In reply to: Php plugin error – loginThe code you pasted has seven lines. But the error message mentions issues on line 9 and 10.
Remove all the spaces after the closing “?>” tag. Save the file. Retry.
Spaces after the terminal closing tag cause a lot of problems.

I don’t have time to look into this in depth, but check out bp_core_add_cropper_js() in bp-core-cssjs.php.

Is this issue solved? If so, please set it to solved.
In reply to: Login redirect coding questionYou’re welcome! Good luck!
In reply to: Default ThemeGreat! I’m glad I could help.
In reply to: Login redirect coding questionIn wp-login.php, I have found the following line of code (around line 470) ….
I want to redirect the user to their profile page, so I changed it to …
I would highly recommend that you stay away from hacking core WPMU files. You’ll have to make the changes all over again the next time you update WPMU.
This is the way you should do it: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1095
How can I change the wp-login page to include my site\’s logo instead of the WordPress logo? Is this possible?

By the way, you may receive faster responses in the future if you ask WPMU questions on the WPMU forums and ask BuddyPress-specific questions on this forum.
In reply to: Default ThemeWell, I assume you do your WPMU updates by deleting everything from the WPMU folder–with the possible exception of certain files / folders in wp-content? If so, then just delete again and start over.
Also, read this thread ( https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2065 ). Although not everything applies, there are important upgrade tips and instructions. Make sure you read / browse the entire thread.

It must be the latest branch, not trunk. Use this link http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-mu/branches/2.7
In reply to: Default Themeno i havent installed wpmu 2.7.1
You must be running the latest branch of WPMU to use the trunk of BP 1.0_RC2.
Did you read this thread? https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1994
In reply to: Default Themeusing the latest one 1342 but in my plugins it says rc1 ? is that normal ?
No, it should say 1.0-RC2.
Did you upgrade WPMU to 2.7.1 branch or trunk?
In reply to: Default ThemeMadshark, which version of WPMU are you using? Did you update to the 2.7.1_beta1 from branch, or trunk?
In reply to: Default ThemeWhich version of BuddyPress are you using?
V1.2_URC1 of the unofficial skeleton component has been updated.
There was one bug fix and additional comments added to both the base file and the readme.txt.
This version is now updated through r1342 of BP. But, it will still work if you’re using any version from r1324 up to r1342.
If you’ve found or find any more issues, please report them in this thread.

Export wp_1_options from one database and into the other.
Of course, make sure you’ve back up your entire database first.

as far as version of PHP, do you mean myadmin client or actual code
What version of PHP is your domain on your VPS running? Is this different than the version you’re using in MAMP?
More steps to try:
- Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed? If so, disable all of them and see if you still get the problem. If you do not, if it works, then activate the other plugins one at a time, each time trying the avatar change or upload until you get the problem.
- If that does not work, try reinstalling from scratch. This means deleting all the files from your domain and deleting the MySQL database you’re attaching to. Create a brand new database and then upload WPMU and BP per install protocol. See what happens.

I can not change or create avatars
I assume you mean that you cannot create avatars at all. If that is the case, then you cannot even get the chance to change your avatar. Is this correct?
The error you mentioned in your OP is found in only two places in BP:
- bp_core_avatar.php –> in the function bp_core_avatar_admin
- bp_xprofile_signup.php –> in the function xprofile_validate_signup_fields
So, either you do not have sufficient permissions in the folder where the avatar is first uploaded, or you’re uploading an avatar that is too big. I will guess that it is the first problem based on the error message.
But, let’s be thorough.
You mentioned that you’re running a very recent BP trunk version and WPMU 2.7.1_beta from branch. We’ll assume that everything is correct with your upgrade and that you’ve also read the thread Lance mentioned and tried any applicable suggestions.
Here, then, are some additional or follow-up questions:
- What is the size of the avatar you’re trying to upload?
- What is the avatar’s format?
- Are you using the standard buddypress-member theme or a customized theme?
- What version of GD is installed?
- What version of PHP are you using?
- Have you checked all the folders in blog.dir and made sure that there are indeed no files?
- Have you checked the permissions of each of the subfolders in blog.dir?
In reply to: bp-Events plugins directory questionAh. Very nice, Nicola. That will help me as well.
In reply to: bp-Events plugins directory questionAre you running the latest WPMU branch and BP trunk?

It seems like you’re on the right path!
it’s BP-tos….?
Just to let you know, the “bp” at the beginning of a plugin does not mean that it is an official, supported BuddyPress component. The same goes with the “wp”. Plugin developers can name their plugins whatever they want.
That is what the TOS and Captcha developers did.
In reply to: bp-Events plugins directory questionI’m just delving into this more deeply, so perhaps I am missing something.
But, it still seems to be done the same way as in the past. Each BP component checks to make sure it is running the most current version by comparing against the defined constant bp-[xxx]-db-version. If an older version, then the install function runs again doing whatever is necessary.
I believe you’re already doing this with your plugin.
In reply to: bp-Events plugins directory questionOkay, not a new hook per se, but a new admin menu group (BuddyPress) to which you should be able to add additional submenu pages. It still uses the add_action call to a WPMU hook (admin_menu).
Look at how its done in bp_core_add_admin_menu() in bp_core.php. Then, additional submenus under BuddyPress menu group are added in other BP components–like xprofile_add_admin_menu() in bp_xprofile.php.
