trent apologies for the delay in reply, I have been busy rewriting my BP into lighttpd with a lot of success…. I hope you can tell how you did the rewrite, I could get tit to work for top level domain but to get it working for posts proved to be hard…..
I think the plugin is the way to go as splitting the blogs is a pain and difficult to manage…..
thanks for your feedback at least am not totally barking mad..
I would like to see the WP video framework plugin integrated into BP…. users can upload videos in there blogs and also have the videos show in their profiles as a track to show who uploaded what, kinda like a video site wide activity feature…
Posted this in a previous thread, I can’t raise tickets…
I recently found out in the latest build created 4th Feb that the group avatars upload and generate fine with the correct path but the actual names saved to the database are wrong.
The database naming of the group avatar is saved into the database as http://www.myserver.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1/james-bond-3-groupavatar-thumb.jpg and
http://www.myservercom/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1/james-bond-3-groupavatar-full.jpg
the files are named as follows during the upload in tha dmin of changing the group avatar http://www.myserver.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1/james-bond-avatar1.jpg (this is the thumbnail)
and
http://www.myserver.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1/james-bond-avatar2.jpg
hope it helps someone, it looks to me that there is a mistake in the naming of the files on the upload as opposed to what is saved into the database at the time of creation… Once I changed my database file name the group avatar loaded fine…

Amazing what a lunch break and a sanity check can do for an oldskool internet guy…. I found that by installing the BBPRESS aplpha version onto my wpmu 2.7 and latest BB SVN as of Feb 4th 09 build it all works nicely..
thank you to everyone on this thread and to trent for a great write up, would never have got it working without it… I mixed a bit with the video followed the details and then downloaded the alpha version as the latest BBPRESS 0.9.0.4 didn’t work for me but the latest alpha build does…..
I can actually go and finalise my house renovation without any issues now.. THANK YOU everyone involved with BP big thumbs up
Opiater: I would set the user role map as admin = master key editor = moderator and the rest as member
This is my understanding and reading between the lines.. I get stuck at step 3 for the rpc settings it doesnt appear when I install the plugin, but this could be a total misunderstanding about where the xml rpc settings should be changed….
hi guys the only issue I was getting was the 500 error with super cache enabled am not testing with half mode now. I have the latest build of super cache 0.9 and the latest svn BP build running on wp2.7 and seems to be very solid…
also just noted that when upgrading you have to reactivate the buddy home theme this gave me a blank screen…
updated to the latest SVN checkout and it sorted all my issues as far as I can see I have no bugs to report weeeee only got the dedicated server built last saturday…
I have the same issue as kazama the blog actually redirects to the login portion if logged out and if logged in just recycles back to my profile…. could this be a rewrite issue…
Also I can not get anything to appear in the news area when clicked everything else works great version 1.0b2 from the combo download I avoid the trac as it is on a public server build…
I updated to the latest svn build tonight and it solved it… I think it was a BP code issue.. Noticed that add friend no longer works…
bluehost doesn’t work due to the wildcard for domains, I just left them for a dedicated server over at http://www.jetnethost.com over the weekend they built the server to my spec and are very patient.. early days but highly approachable and nice guys..
