That is absolutely fantastic, thank you so much! I appreciate your patience with this.
@imath now I’m just embarrassed that such an obvious solution didn’t occur to me 🙂
Here’s all the info.@imath I’ve been trying to reply but I keep getting errors on this thread. Is there another way I can send you info? I have a test site where you can see the problem.
@imath – I deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress and switched to Twenty Twenty-One. The issue persists for an Editor or Contributor user. If I change that user to an Admin, then the field visibility options match what I had set AND (if it’s not set to be enforced) they can also change and successfully save the field visibility.
I can’t make all of these folks admins, but do you have any other ideas for me? Or might this be a bug with the role capabilities?@imath – I tried deactivating Elementor and the issue persisted. I did not try creating brand new fields to test with, but all of my existing ones are still stuck on Everyone. I noted that they are Everyone regardless of whether or not I use the “enforce field visibility” option. The fields I am seeing this behavior on all of the field types I’m using: text box, multi-line text area, checkboxes, and date selector.
I did a bit of other plugin conflict testing with no results. There’s a few other plugins on the site that could potentially be conflicting, but nothing that I want to deactivate without checking with a dev- I’ll do that on Monday. Thanks!
@imath I am using Twenty Twenty with Elementor. I tried switching to Twenty Twenty-One, but I’m still seeing the same issue. Thank you for looking into this!
I’m having the same problem as @epgb101. All fields are showing as “This field can be seen by: Everyone”. If my users try to change that to “Only Me”, the change does not save and it reverts to Everyone.
