@jillsessa
1. Which version of BP did you update from?
2. Could be a plugin conflict. Have you tried deactivating plugins except BuddyPress to check which is causing the conflict? -

Everything was working fine till I decided to change the howdy at the bar. …. It happens with only a particular theme.
@kingdgm Changing howdy in toolbar shouldn’t have appended forums after the group’s URL. What theme are you using?

@mercime replied to the topic Google tab is showing an a href link in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 7 months ago
@foxden-vixen It might just be that the theme author needs to update the theme to be compatible with the latest WP and BP versions. As we have no access to the premium theme, best place to ask is the theme’s support forums or contact theme author.

@mercime replied to the topic [Resolved] How to edit groups using css in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 7 months ago
@jonbie initial scan of the theme looks like it’s using the buddypress.css I pointed to above. So check if adding !important in your style works.
e.g. #buddypress .activity-stream {background-color: #fff !important; }If the !important does not work, best place to ask is at the theme’s forums where you should be able to get support for your…[Read more]

@mercime replied to the topic Google tab is showing an a href link in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 7 months ago
@foxden-vixen Most likely, that’s a theme issue, not BuddyPress. To double-check, change theme to Twenty Fourteen or Twenty Thirteen and check if issue does not appear there.

@carlsandburg the member directories (or list of all members) in the two sites you posted are seen at http://www.cchca.org/members/ and http://cchca.stevelescure.net/members-2/
I expected to be able to see all the members somehow using the admin bar (upper-right).
There seems to be some confusion here. There is nothing in the toolbar/adminbar…[Read more]

@iol2014 https://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors#Connection_Timed_Out
So if you don’t want/need to fix connection time out error/s, then just delete the BuddyPress folder in the wp-content/plugins folder via FTP if you have access. -

@jonbie Make sure you use the same/right selectors or more specific ones to override the styles for I assume, BP 2.0 https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.0/bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.css
What theme are you using? Site URL? -
@mercime updated the Add BuddyPress Styles to a Theme page, on the BuddyPress Codex 10 years, 7 months ago
BuddyPress 1.7 adds the ability to use any WordPress theme. The theme compatibility has a base style sheet that helps format the BuddyPress content. The styles may not be perfectly suited to your theme.
It’s […]

@mercime replied to the topic BuddyPress is not compatible with my theme – What can I do? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 10 years, 7 months ago
@agameseo the blank cart and checkout pages are not BuddyPress issues, only the member, register, and activate pages are. Was your shop working before you activated BP? If not, then I suggest you contact the theme author.
Re BP pages returning blank, does your theme’s page.php have the_title and the_content tags within the WP loop? If not, then…[Read more]

@mercime replied to the topic Troubles setting up BuddyPress site in the forum Installing BuddyPress 10 years, 8 months ago
Ah the theme needs to be BuddyPress compliant, which greatly reduces the options.
Actually, BP is compatible with nearly all WordPress themes (and all WP default themes) since BP 1.7. Issues arise with some frameworks which do not follow basic WP templating with the_title and the_contant within the WP loop. Even so, there are solutions put forth…[Read more]

@friendsandcash more likely a theme/plugin conflict as latest BP is tested and compatible with latest WP. Have you tried changing to the Twenty Fourteen/Thirteen theme to check if issues are resolved there?

And tables are not suitable for mobile devices
@sooskriszta Noted. But it can be done. If you look again at the BP survey results via mobile device, the table is responsive with some modifications made on Coyler’s code. Morever, as hnla mentioned in earlier post which I agree with, you do not change semantic markup to suit devices.
