@mercime yes. But Invite Anyone has more functionality and more friendly frontend UI. I think it has more perspectives than Secure Invites.

@mercime Hi – I’m having this same problem it seems. When a user registers or if I (as admin) create a user, that user doesn’t receive an email to activate his account.
The SMTP works as I can send newsletters from my account.
I’m using BuddyPress Default 1.2.6
Right now, I’ve checked : ANyone can register so it should be public.

thanks for the feedback….@mercime thanks for the tip about the BP Gallery.
I agree with @rogercoathup on the lack for media, and re-inventing the wheel. But it appears there is still need for further expansion in the media, maybe a wanna have or desire in the next release 😉

@mercime sorry the mention of ‘very odd’ wasn’t meant as a criticism of BP Gallery, more that users will find that facility to upload from that point in the site slightly confusing – as has already been highlighted to me so it’s not my supposition at work here, however all it needs is some UI clarity […]

@mercime Yes, I suspect it was Firebug 🙂 . A revelation – my girlfriend couldn’t believe it when I told her to give it a whizz on her PC.
Although, we tend to do all initial dev on Safari / Mac with the web developer tools (very similar capabilities)

@warut -same thing as @mercime lost the logo when I uploaded… changed it back and it’s well… I’d say the two minor fixes above and you’re good 2 go!

@mercime Problem is that we don’t have access to these groups, but it needs to be sorted rapidly; there either and ought really to be a means of automatically adding the mods to groups so they can remove content or perhaps simply suspend user created groups which don’t really appear of huge benefit on this actual site.

@hnla Thank you. Agree that user created groups should be suspended for regular users, but Mods and above should be able to create group/s when needed.
It’s sad that lead devs have no time to program a script for this site which would make it easier for Mods do their volunteer work at BP.org and make this site a testament to BuddyPress goodness…[Read more]

@mercime, I am with WP 3.01 BP1.252
there are 2 fields, Primary Language(text box) shows something like “O4hDNZAiV” or “7rj462jpc”, and About me(text Area) shows something like “s2MtUZWWDRJYlj” or “jJxbfMDAPTIJK4r”
This only happens on newly registered members. For old members, even input new information in profile the first time, it still works normal. -

@mercime Hi, it looks like you found the solution to the admin bar issue (messed up by theme). I’m running into the same issue where the admin bar just disappeared (only work on the back-end). I was wondering how you fixed it? I’m using Church theme. Thanks so much!

Check if there’s a in your theme’s footer.php. Also, go to dashboard > BuddyPress > General Settings and check if you did not disable adminbar

That Username Availibilty Checker has been incorporated into the bp-xtra-signup plugin by Travel-Junkie which also provides password strength feedback. This is a plugin I would recommend people make use of.
However this issue is not ‘Username’ as there can’t be the same username twice
